A C ent u ry of S tewardship The Lobero has always been a place of community. In 1922, with leadership from the Community Arts Association, Jose Lobero’s Opera House was purchased and rebuilt, not with major grants or large donations, but with many small gifts. According to Ernestine Koefed (Lobero Board President 1943-49), “Everyone was approached for a contribution and everyone gave.” Approximately $180,000 was raised, and the result was a gift from that generation to ours; the Lobero Theatre as we know it today. This tradition of stewardship has continued to this day. Each time a renovation has been needed, hundreds of individuals like you have joined forces to preserve this historic

gem. Our programming, from jazz to dance to youth performances, has received your unwavering support. In the coming year, you will have a chance to make your gift to future generations. The Encore: Lobero Campaign will enhance the ambience and intimacy of the theatre, while making it a more comfortable space for performers and audience members alike. The community’s generosity over the years has been so important. Please join the Board and staff in making a gift to preserve and enhance the Lobero Theatre. Through our stewardship, we can leave this historic treasure even better than we found it.

Encore: Lobero Donors The Lobero Theatre Foundation gratefully acknowledges the early support of these Leadership Donors to the Encore: Lobero Campaign. It is through their generosity that we will accomplish the campaign’s mission to preserve and enhance the historic Lobero Theatre, Santa Barbara’s cultural cornerstone. Mr. & Mrs. David H.
