COURSES – CLOSER THAN YOU THINK... Oxford Brookes University at your local college

Local college courses designed to fit around your employment

COURSES WITH Partner Colleges We recognise that going away to university isn’t always possible. That’s why we’ve formed strong partnerships with regional colleges so you can study for an Oxford Brookes degree closer to home.

What kind of degree? Our specially selected partner colleges offer a range of foundation degrees (FD) and bachelor’s degrees (BA or BSc) – all designed and run in partnership with Oxford Brookes. Foundation degrees are job-focused, with students often combining their studies with a job, or workplace experience. These degrees are the equivalent of the first two years of a bachelor’s degree and are a qualification in their own right. Every one of our foundation degrees leads onto a bachelor’s degree either taught at our partnership college or on-campus at Oxford Brookes.

“When I was growing up I never had the opportunity to go to university so this is a real big thing.” Karen Viggars, Foundation Degree in Early Years at Abingdon & Witney College

Flexible and employment focussed  Flexible learning on your doorstep: Attending your local college a few days or evenings a week makes getting a degree really accessible.  Expert teaching: Many partner college staff are industry experts, so your learning is relevant to the workplace. Staff also work closely with academic colleagues at Brookes.  Enhancing your career: Employers are involved in the design of our courses, with work-based modules enabling you to put your skills and knowledge into practice.  Outstanding facilities and support: As a partner college student, you’ll be able to take advantage of many Brookes facilities, as well as your local college facilities. Brookes’ online library gives you remote access to a wide range of journals and eBooks. Or you may wish to visit the on-campus library, join Brookes Union, and use the Sports Centre.  Returning to learning? Whether you’re returning to study, or coming straight from school, traditional academic requirements are not always needed. We’ll take your work experience, previous learning and desire to study into account.  Tuition fees For up-to-date fees and student finance information please visit www.brookes.ac.uk/ finance. Here you’ll also find details of tuition fee loans and financial support available to you.

Anish

A BA honours degree in Business, Management and Communications is paving the way to a place on a BP management training programme for Swindon College student Anish Thapa. “Studying for a Brookes degree at Swindon College has been the best decision I have ever made. After my BTEC in business, I went on the take a two-year foundation degree followed by an extra year’s study which will give me a BA honours degree. I was always keen to study at university level but also wanted to stay close to home, so I could combine studying with my day job as customer service assistant at British Petroleum. The degree has helped develop my knowledge and skills in business management and it’s boosted my confidence – I’m really looking forward to joining the BP connect management programme.”
