Boulevard Flower Gardens began in 1950’s on route 1 in Colonial Heights. As the family business grew under Maybelle & George Landa, offering annuals, fresh cut flowers & roadside produce, it soon developed into a full service Garden Center. By 1982, Mark & Francine Landa began management, expanding categories and purchasing land on Ruffin Mill Road in South Chesterfield. Sixteen production houses were built to provide the retail site with locally grown annuals, perennials and seasonal gift plants, including 8,000 mums and 6,000 poinsettias sold to area churches & community fundraisers. During the 80’s & 90’s, the farm offered pick-your- own strawberries, pumpkins and cut your own Christmas trees. The retail business moved to South Chesterfield in 2007 into a state-of-the-art Garden Center of 33,000 sq. ft. With state certified staff to assist customers and answer garden questions, the business expanded to provide a larger selection of plants and gardening supplies. Boulevard Flower Gardens offers educational classes for school field trips and garden clubs, as well as leasing space as a venue for corporate events and receptions. The rear, wooded 5 acres provides a scenic setting with a pond, bandstand and covered pavilion. Now looking toward the holiday season, the business continues to GROW with a third generation, as daughters, Madison & Casey have plans under way for a new retail site to open in the scenic back acreage in September 2017. Boulevard Flower Gardens will continue to grow all the annuals, perennials and seasonal crops as we move “closer to nature” with another generation of Landa’s and exciting plans for the future.
