 Career Counselling Services LMDC’s Career Counsellor is available to assist you to identify an Action Plan to Employment,. 1. During your initial interview, the Career Counsellor will get to know you by obtaining information on your employment and education background; identify strengths, potential challenges, and barriers to overcome. 2. You will be guided through basic Interest and Skills assessments. Personality and Learning Style assessments are also available. The results of your self-assessments will assist you and your Career Counsellor to identify potential career options. 3. Based on your career options, your Career Counsellor will then guide you through Labour Market Information (LMI) research on occupations, training programs, training institutes, and requirements. 4. The combined background data, assessment results, and research information, will assist you and your Career Counsellor to develop an Action Plan that will outline all necessary steps needed for you to achieve your career goals. Basic Entrepreneurship Workshop October 12 - 13, 2011 This Basic Entrepreneurship Workshop is designed to introduce the client to fundamental business concepts, including what it means to be an entrepreneur. This workshop will be offered quarterly and is mandatory for LMDC’s Self Employment Assistance Program. The workshop will explore what it means to organize, manage, market, and be productive in business as well as emphasize the importance of: understanding how financial institutions (banks) operate; communicating effectively in a business environment; and, knowing how to make and adhere to a budget. Upon completion of the workshop, the student should have a basic knowledge of these areas that becomes the foundation for the subsequent development of entrepreneurial traits and skills. GED - Refresher Course October 3 - 8, 2011 GED refresher will be offered to existing GED students with the LMDC (students who have already taken the initial test and need one or two more test to pass). Existing students can give their commitment to Myrna Isaac. Rewrites are tentatively being scheduled for October 28 & 29 in Campbellton, NB.
