With time and practice, performing the Heart Breath exercise each day will help you build endurance for the tasks laid out in the following chapters. You don’t need to specifically know in words what your heart is doing, but the more you practice, the stronger your spiritual heart becomes. Your spiritual heart processes the experiences of your day. All your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, and psychic perceptions and interactions, whether conscious or unconscious, remembered or forgotten, are energetically processed and spiritually digested. Your attention follows your breath. Breathe quickly, and you flit from thought to thought. Breathe slowly and deeply, and you feel more present and calm. Calm presence keeps you in alignment with your spiritual heart and helps in your decision-making processes during the day. With practice you can learn to breathe the heart breath all the time. Living with the heart breath increases your psychic energy reserve and endurance. The source of your gifts lies dormant in your heart. Not the fleshy muscle under your rib cage but the spiritual one within. You connect to your heart when you feel. Feelings range from positive love and joy to negative fear and sadness.
