Practical Magick Note: Know that your thoughts can affect your and others’ reality. This is vitally important, so remember that thoughts have real substance. Bottom line: thought creates!

The Principle of Correspondence This principle teaches us that “As above, so below. As within, so without.” We do exist on all planes—the astral/spiritual, energetic, and physical—so this principle is a lesson in perspective. When most authors try to explain this “lesson of perspective,” often you will read a riff about holograms, which, I confess, makes me lose whatever is left of my mind. Holograms? Please. One day I was feeling particularly put upon. I was arguing out loud with a reference book’s description of holograms and this Hermetic principle of correspondence in particular. I was thinking maybe if I just read it out loud to myself, then I would finally understand the whole hologram explanation thing. Then my husband, who had been quietly and contentedly reading a fly-fishing magazine, looked over at me and said, “Are you talking about dimensions?” My head snapped up. Hmmm…I thought about that. As in a perception of dimensions? Maybe I needed to look inside myself instead of in a stuffy old book…hold on. Look within to learn more. This was when I connected with a line from The Charge of the Goddess: “If that which you seek you find not within yourself, you will never find it without,” which is just another way of saying “As within, so without.” It is all about how you perceive it. I had to find that answer by looking within before I could find it without—a “light bulb” moment.
