Homage to… A Famous Artist “Homage is generally used in modern English to mean any public show of respect to someone to whom one   feels indebted. In this sense, a reference within a creative work to someone who greatly influenced the artist  would be a homage. It is typically used to denote a reference in a work of art or literature to another, at least   somewhat widely known, work.”   (Source: Wikipedia)

For this project you will need to select and research a famous artist to pay homage to. Make a piece of art in the style of your artist and that explores the same/similar theme that your artist was interested in. There should be an obvious visual connection between your piece and the artist you are paying homage to. Post a written statement on the “inspiration” page of your blog to accompany your piece of Art. The statement should explain the background of your artist, their style/ themes and how your piece is influenced by/ pays homage to the artist. Please also post pictures of three works of art by your artist. Be sure to label the art with the title, year and medium. Materials and size are left to your discretion. 2-D and 3-D projects are acceptable. Additional time outside of class is expected for research, written statement and art production. Here is a list of artists to help get you started. Everyone in the class should pick a different artist. If you have other ideas, please run it by me before you start. Good Luck!
