LIFE STORY THURSDAY, AUGUST 5 · 7:30 PM THE BAKER-BAUM CONCERT HALL Smetana’s lush String Quartet, “From My Life,” was written as an intimate confession, as well as a tonal biography of his life, his loves, and in response to his deafness. Together with Sibelius’ evocative En Saga, Shostakovich’s explosive String Quartet No. 8, and Schubert’s Lebensstürme for piano four-hands, these deeply intimate musical selfportraits detail the inner lives of those who composed them.
