Early poster art for Tyler Perry’s upcoming crime thriller I, Alex Cross has been posted on the QED International (the company producing the film) web page. The synopsis for the film has also been revealed: “Crusading Detective/Psychologist ALEX CROSS (Tyler Perry) meets his match against the psychotic, mob hit man, MICHAEL SULLIVAN aka THE BUTCHER. As Cross investigates the hit man’s gruesome murders, Sullivan decides to send him a deadly message by murdering his wife in cold blood. Now enraged, Cross vows to hunt down the killer if it’s the last thing he does. However, Sullivan is a serial killing mastermind and continues to evade Cross while pushing him to an ethical breaking point as a cop and father. As Cross closes in on the killer, he discovers evidence that points to the unimaginable—a revelation that could change everything. With unstoppable action, and unforeseeable twists, this suspenseful action thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat.” Morgan Freeman previously played the brilliant detective in Kiss The Girls (1997) and Along Came a Spider (2001). Last summer, actor Idris Elba and director David Twohy (Pitch Black) were attached to revive the Alex Cross franchise, but due to creative differences with Paramount Studios Twohy opted out of the project, and Elba followed soon after. QED International bought the rights in early 2011, hired Rob Cohen (XXX) as the new director and cast Perry in the title role. But all’s well that ends well; Twohy is re-teaming with Vin Diesel for a third Riddick movie, and Elba has his plate full with the second season of “LUTHER”, a featured role in this spring’s blockbuster Thor, and is currently filming Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel Prometheus. Elba has also been cast as the lead in Guillermo Del Toro’s sci-fi flick Pacific Rim .

I, Alex Cross starts filming in Cleveland, OH this August and is slated for a 2012 release.

By Becky Tyler Perry a self made media mogul can now add another title to his already extensive list of credits. He will be the leading man in someone else’s film for a change. The New Orleans born and raised Atlanta, Georgia resident will being filming on the I, Alex Cross movie in August. Coming from a background of his own genre and yes you can now label it the Tyler Perry genre because he owns it. We will expect to see a different side of Mr. Perry through his character as Alex Cross. The story line seen in the synopsis if you haven’t read the book, yet. You will se he will have to tap into everything to portray this role. And as a James Peterson follower II am looking forward to this movie and what Mr. Perry brings to this story. Breaking down the first glimpse of this story with Mr. Perry at the helm he would have a list of things to pull from if he gets to a place and he needs inspiration. He has his life to pull from. Crusading Detective/Psychologist ALEX CROSS (Tyler Perry) meets his match against the psychotic, mob hit man, MICHAEL SULLIVAN aka THE BUTCHER. Ok so he may not have that much trouble relating to this portion of his role. But if he does need help channeling his acting skills to deal with this dark character in Michael Sullivan he can use his recent comments directed at another filmmaker to ‘go straight to hell’ as inspiration. As Cross investigates the hit man’s gruesome murders, Sullivan decides to send him a deadly message by murdering his wife in cold blood. Now enraged, Cross vows to hunt down the killer if it’s the last thing he does. ‘Gone to soon’. Losing a loved one is always hard especially when it’s a parent. Life is not what we want it to be and sometimes we are dealt blows we have to accept no matter how painful. All while still carrying on our own lives. Work must go on. I would love to see him parlay that into this role. However, Sullivan is a serial killing mastermind and continues to evade Cross while pushing him to an ethical breaking point as a cop and father. As a Christian, the challenges of working in the entertainment industry with all the lifestyle experiences. As a single man with a multi-million dollar media business steadily growing under his direction and access to all the single ladies he wants. Ethics and common sense plays a major part in staying focused and grounded in his Christian beliefs. Relating to this role from that view should be a breeze. As Cross closes in on the killer, he discovers evidence that points to the unimaginable—a revelation that could change everything. Every ‘no’, every disappointment, every failed relationship, every pain he has ever felt. His life as he has shared with his audience has a list of every emotion and situation that he can pull from as an actor. This role will give him all he needs to channel those emotions and show us what he can really do on the other side of someone else’s camera. With unstoppable action, and unforeseeable twists, this suspenseful action thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat.” He has admittedly been working out with the help of Prayfit a novel by Jimmy Pena . So with God on his side a good fitness couch and a physic that was fine to start with all rolled together in a Alex Cross role. This will be one movie to see, repeatedly. Are you ready for this?
