Crete, from 122,950 euros WITH property prices in Greece taking a tumble in recent months, investors looking for a bargain place in the sun could get more for their money in destinations such as Crete, where prices have fallen significantly. Western Crete is one area that’s well worth considering by UK investors. Although quieter than resorts such as Agios Nikolias and Hersonisos on the east of the Greek island, western Crete is well served by flights from the UK and offers a savvy choice for shrewd investors. According to Snobby Homes, a leading developer in the area, two to three years ago a typical two bedroom detached house was around 180,000 euros, while a three bedroom was around 210,000 euros. However, the developer says that typical prices are now around 135,000 euros for a two bedroom house, and 160,000 euros for a three bedroom house, plus around 20,000 euros for taxes, purchase costs, legal and estate agent’s fees. Snobby Homes’ marketing director Mike Saunders believes the fall in prices in western Crete is due to uncertainty surrounding the Greek economy and a decline in interest from UK buyers. He said: “Interest from UK buyers
