PICTURE PERFECT MOVING away from posed, formal photos, the latest style of wedding photography is very natural and unposed as couples look to capture every moment of their special day as it really happens. Carl Crozier from Merseyside-based Simply Perfection Photography, says: “Most people now want the type of photos that are taken without the subject being aware – just enjoying their wedding, laughing and at their best. Couples want to look back on their wedding photos and see real memories rather than posed, fake pictures which have been set up.” Visit or call Simply Perfection Photography on 07521515750 (Carl) or 07521512563 (Rachel).

Less is more: “Ostentatious is so 2011,” says Helen. “2012 is all about less haste, more taste.” Cakes: “Gone are the towering tiers a la Kim Kardashian,” says Helen. “Cake designers are paying homage to the iconic wedding dresses of designers such as Alexander McQueen with their meticulous attention to detail. Embellishments, sugar lace, beading and embroidery on two and three tier cakes accompanied with dessert towers are the order of the big day.” Demure dresses: “2012 brides are looking for coy coverage, meaning necklines are creeping up. And, thanks to the Duchess of Cambridge, sleeves and lace are big. 2012 will see an introduction of blush and nude colours, not only reserved for bridesmaids, for the blushing bride too,” says Helen.

VENUES FROM small and intimate weddings on the mezzanine to extravagant celebrations with exclusive use of the entire hotel, 62 Castle Street is perfect for chic city weddings and civil partnerships. The hotel’s Castle Suite, which has views of the Queen Victoria monument and Derby Square, is licensed to hold civil

ceremonies for up to 70 people. The hotel even has a wedding planning service, to guide you through the planning process. All inclusive wedding packages are available at 62 Castle Street from just £2,500. Price is based on 30 guests attending in the daytime and 80 guests attending the evening reception. Call 0151 702 7898 or log onto weddings to find out more.

Flowers go green: “Textural, leafy bouquets with different hues are in,” reveals Helen. “Mixed greenery bouquets with super creamy neutrals, soft and romantic designs are interesting and not too busy. Centrepieces will follow suit, less symmetry, and won’t necessarily have to match.” Reception styling: “2012 is waving goodbye to the overdone vintage and DIY theme,” advises Helen. “Couples are now going for casual refinery. Long communal tables with low floral designs allow guests to engage less formally, without the obstructed view. Couples want to give their guests the party of all parties, with surprise entertainment elements of dancers and favourite bands.” Dessy bridesmaid dress, style 2852 in nude, from The Bridal Gallery, Woolton Village, tel: 0151 729 0800,
