Ecological Comprehensive Evaluation (Nansha)

Agricultural evolution

Nansha was originally a small fishing village in southern China with extensive river networks and developed agriculture. In recent years, urbanization has brought about population growth and great economic and social development. Nansha, as a metropolitan area for development, has a large area of mountain forests, farmland, and ponds that are covered by hard coverings such as large-scale buildings, roads and squares. The lack of green space and the reduction of infiltration area are the common problems accompanied by urbanization in China. In the future urban areas where green space is scarce, we look forward to using the modern ecological means to re-eco and apply this method to the green patches in Nansha, Guangzhou and even China.

Late 20th century "New Urbanism"

The artistic value of traditional European city squares lies in the closedness formed by the continuous boundaries of the buildings surrounding the square.

Respects the boundary closure of urban space.

Emphasizing the clear definition of the boundary on the neighborhood space, hoping to restore the streets and squares of traditional Western c i t i e s, to re g a i n t h e o rd e r o f traditional cities, a sense of space and the spirit of the place.

Historical Culture and Modern Life Modernist Boundary View

There are two types of borders between Qinghu and the city: Qinghu and the urban area, Qinghu and Foxconn factory. It is mainly formed by natural and historical factors. There is landscape and public space at the boundary. The transformation of this boundary is conducive to the integration of the city and the community, as well as the community's service to the factory.

Bounderies Renovate

The boundary between man-made and natural areas is mainly formed by natural factors and historical factors. There is currently less activity between manmade and natural areas, and it is difficult to make full use of human resources and natural resources.

The boundary between the new village and the old village is mainly formed by historical factors. The activities and business of the border space between the old and the new villages are active and are mainly affected by the new villages, but they cannot penetrate into the old villages.

Western traditional boundar y views emphasize the formation of continuous and clear boundaries through buildings to shape urban neighborhoods and form urban public spaces.

The boundary between historical culture and modern life is mainly formed by historical reasons. There is a lack of connection between the old village's historical building or culture and the life of the whole community.

Late 20th century Postmodernism

Alexandrian times Subcultural zone boundary

Emphasize the richness and level of spatial dimensions, overlap and selectivity of spatial systems

The boundaries of post-modern space are ambiguous and irrational. From the local to the whole, it is a transitional relationship. The borders are not clear, and the space extends beyond the borders.

E mp has izing t he imp or t ance of obvious borders for the neighborhood, proposing the mediating role of the borders and making the border zone an important open space for the city.

Digital Age Boundary View

Modernism and postmodernism emphasize the vague, transparent and haz y boundaries. Boundary is the key to reflect humanistic spirit in space design.

The boundary theory eventually died out in the French philosopher Gilderez.

Gilderez Nomadic thought Emphasizes no center, no rules, diversified morphological characteristics, spatial characteristics of the digital age: "Smooth space means a decentralized organizational structure, no climax, no end, in a state of change and generation."

Resources: Near city roads, the traffic is convenient. Strategy: A. Use plants to improve the interface environment. B. Repair the building facade. C. Integrate the underlying commercial buildings to construct a comprehensive pedestrian street.

Resources: Located between urban roads and mountains, it has good natural ecological resources and convenient transportation. Strategy: Designed as an ecological corridor connecting the city and n a t u re, a n d i m p rov i n g t h e micro-climate to improve the walking environment.

Resources: There is good waterfront landscape in Guanlan river belt. Strategy: With the design of waterfront square and path, attract more urban residents and village residents to do leisure activities and activate the waterfront belt.

Resources: Opposite the waterfront belt is the Foxconn factory, with the Gangtou River in between, but it has not played an active role in its riverside landscape. Strategy: Activate waterfront belt through flexible revetment design, industrial-style trail design, and a square design that caters to the needs of Foxconn workers.

NANTOU'S SlIPPERS Exhibition of NANTOU'S SlIPPERS is divided into four parts: City of Slippers, Different Definition of Home, Story of People with Slippers and Tandem Furniture. City of slippers show the impression of Nantou from the perspective of slippers. Different Definition of Home shows the space of activities that are originally in there house but are readapted along the public alleys of the street in the village. Story of people with slippers describes interpersonal relationships derived from the spatial structure. Tandem Furniture links the entire exhibition, showing the inextrible relationship between slippers and other exhibitions. Boundaries Reshape

ANCIENT NANTOU According to historical records, the ancient city of Nantou was a resident of officer who took charge of the production and sale of salt in South China. Like the modern city, its streets were formal with close physical and psychological boundary from their houses. Baysalt worker needed to wear straw sancals when came into the city. And officials needed to change from slippers to official boots when walking on the street. Because of stratification dur to the strict social class, officials sometimes denounced the baysalt worker and not allowed them to enter the city. As time went by, with the rapid developed of Shenzhen, the original "city" did not keep space with the development and become a "village".

Boundaries Reshape

Chat Room

They put a sofa and several bamboo mats under the eaves. This space became their "chat room".

There is a table and a few kitchen ware outdoors. This became their "kitchen". Tea Room

People set a few chairs along the street and put a teaset on the table. And this space become their "tea room".

Through the slippers, we found there is a different definition of home in Nantou ancient city. We discovered that because living spaces in urban villages are extremely confined, locals have to readapt many of their house ac tivities along the public alleys of the village.

Storage Room There is an iron railing surrounded the space betwween two buildings. And it became their "storage room".

Hence, home will be seperated in all corners of Nantou. But slippers are still the carrier which is connected to various parts of the home. The boundary between public and privacy is blurred, interpersonal relationships therefore become closed. In Nantou, home has been redefined.

Cloth Drying Room They stand several bamboo in the street. And this became their "cloth drying room". LIving Room There is a TV in the shop and a few benches outside the shop. This became their "living room". Boundaries Reshape

UNCLE ZHANG WITH SLIPPERS For uncle Zhang in Nanotu of handling, Nantou is both the workplace and the living room. Because the slippers are easy to wash and dry, for riding a tricycle without going a long way to him, slippers are the most suitable shoes. Riding on the tricycle in Nantou will have a different space experience. There is countless red frame in his brain, which constantly remind him the width of each street. Of course, the work is not all of life, he will also talk to acquaintance during working, just like chatting in the lobby and friends at home. In addition, entertainment such as lottery is essential flavor of life. By chatting with friends in front of the lottery shop, relationship between people therefore become more closely.

NANTOU SISTERS WITH SLIPPERS From the sister's point of view, all kinds of furniture scattered in ever y corner of Nantou. Girls from kindergarten will firstly put down shoelaces, turning the crocs into the state of slippers, because the sisters seem to have return home when they come out of the kindergarten. After walking down the street, the girls wash their hands and feet in the washbasin on the side of the street, play on the children's plastic floor in the street, and watch television in the mahjong shop. They wear the slippers relaxingly in this place as if they walk through their home. Boundaries Reshape

I want two kilos of pork to make dumplings.

Wow!The hero is great!

Seven is my lucky number!

Go home to do your homework right now, kids!

Hahaha! They finally win!

Emmm... Today is not my day.

The ribs are fresh today.

Going for Mahjong, huh?

I won 20 yuan yesterday!

It's me, aunt Ye. Here is your tissue!!

Xiao Ming, just after school?

Is anyone outside? Help!!!!! I forget to take the tissue with me!!!!

Linda, you looks so pretty! Going to date?

I want to be the princess!

But nobody listened to Jacky Cheung now. I have not heard of his concert yet.

I heard that Jacky Cheung will come to hold a concert soon!

AUNT YE WITH SLIPPERS Through comic expression and dialogue, aunt Ye's daily life shows the village is a huge community of acquaintances. Everyday in the market she canmeet a lot of acquaintances and stop to chat. When perming her hair in the barbershop, she ask the children to go home for homework. Sitting on the sofa in the alley, aunt Liu talks about gossip with her neighbor. In front of the lottery shop, she talks anout winning numbers with the lottery's friends. They shuttle daily in the village strumming up one after another "home" scattered in the streets.
