Micky Bartlett Little Red Riding Hood 'Typical' and the Silly Billy Wolf Jolly Promotions presents

This fast-paced all singing and dancing show is a fun and gentle re-telling of the classic fairy tale. Little Red Riding Hood is going to visit her Granny, but the Silly Billy Wolf is waiting in the woods. The Time Machine From the creators of ‘Jane Eyre: An Autobiography’, ‘Christmas Gothic’, ‘Dalloway’, ‘I, Elizabeth’, ‘The Unremarkable Death of Marilyn Monroe’ and ‘Austen’s Women’. 2018: In this age of uncertainty, where the shadows of tyranny, intolerance and war darken the path into tomorrow, how much time do we have left? If civilisation falls today, what will become of us? In producer Rebecca Vaughan and writer/director Elton Townend Jones’ new and radical interpretation of the HG Wells classic, a Victorian time traveller transcends across the ages from 1900 to our own far future – from the fall of man to the end of the world – discovering the fate of our endeavours and uncovering our darkest fears. Can we change the future? Or has the end already begun? A philosophical journey, a nightmare adventure, a cautionary tale – this is the story of us all. ‘The Unseen Soul’

Ulster Society of Women Artists

Preview Wed 10 Jan, 7.30 – 9pm Thurs 11 Jan – Sat 10 Feb Gallery 1 & 2

Preview Wed 14 Feb, 7.30 – 9pm Thurs 15 Feb – Sat 10 Mar Gallery 1 & 2

‘I have been concentrating on the rules and limitations of the human soul and frustrations felt throughout life, the desire to be a part of something, and the social constructs we use to transgress through life. I am interested in the other. Taking a somewhat voyeuristic approach to the subject, I like to question what the viewer is seeing.

The Ulster Society of Women Artists was founded by artist Gladys Maccabe in 1957. At that time, no art society in Northern Ireland accepted women as members. The first major exhibition was held at the Belfast Museum and Art Gallery.

I use a range of mixed media, ink, watercolour, acrylic and oil. And in some of my pieces I use hair within the process. Emotional clarity plays a large part in my processes and feel that I work best with music that can establish a memory, time or place.’ In 2017 Jennifer was a finalist in BBC One’s ‘The Big Painting Challenge’, where she was mentored and critiqued by Daphne Todd OBE, Lachlan Goudie and David Dibosa.

From the original ten founding members, membership today is over one hundred women, from all fields of the visual arts. Achieving membership is, and always has been considered, a mark of distinction and the number of artists trying to achieve membership is increasing every year.

Ashley Holmes Shadowpattern Preview Wed 14 Mar, 7.30 – 9pm Thurs 15 Mar – Sat 14 Apr (closed 19 & 30 Mar, 2 & 3 Apr) Gallery 1 & 2 Exhibition is curated by Francesca Biondi. Ashley B. Holmes’ paintings explore states of mind and psychological landscapes using the iconography of houses. By layering acrylic transfers, skins, glazes and Perspex she creates a theatrical illusion of space through which Colonial, Federal and Victorian style houses float, drift, fly and drown in a vast expanse of pattern. Holmes has recently exhibited internationally from USA to China. Her many past exhibitions in Ireland/UK include EV+A, ‘A Sense of Place’, and selected Royal Ulster Academy Annual Exhibitions. She has a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art, Boston, USA and an MA from Chelsea College of Art, London. Her artworks are in both private and public collections including The Bank of Ireland and The Royal Victoria Hospitals.

Ann-Marie Robinson, Malcolm Murchison, Claire Gordon Light & Shade Preview Wed 18 Apr, 7.30 – 9pm Thurs 19 Apr – Thurs 10 May Gallery 1 & 2 Ceramic artists Ann-Marie Robinson and Malcolm Murchison, along with textile designer Claire Gordon explore their differing influences and approaches in creating art. Utilising clay, found objects and textiles the three artists create sculptural forms that are influenced by the world around them. For Malcolm and Claire it is often coastal finds and scenes that inspire their works, with both using found objects in their works. Malcolm produces wheel based ceramics ranging from tableware to sculptural teapots and flight related objects, in high-fired stoneware and porcelain. His soft, creamy ceramic surfaces are combined with driftwood or plastics; Claire’s beach and shore related three dimensional felt and embroidery pieces are complemented by her recent paper quilts incorporating stitch and calligraphy. While Ann-Marie’s designs, often figurative, are full of character and personality. Her attention to detail in surface decoration features a multitude of colour, pattern and embellishment.

Manifestations of Space Preview Sat 2 Jun, 2 – 4pm Mon 4 – Sat 30 Jun Gallery 1 & 2 Croatian artists Andrea Musa, Branka Ridicki and Jasna Barisic along with Tommy Barr from Northern Ireland are founding members of the international collective ‘ConnectingArt’, formed in Florence in 2003. This exhibition presents an investigation into the ever changing material world, taking a conceptual approach to how responses might be represented. Musa’s observations focus on time as a force, in which everything is created, changed and lost. Ridicki examines urban life as a constant of cultural heritage through a deconstruction of city life. Barisic deals with the reinterpretation of traditional space, exploring stone and the energy and evidence within it. Barr employs the timeless circle motif, juxtaposing both ancient and modern fragments.
