Highs and Lows

Altitude is near sea level in the valleys and rolling hills in the western part of the county to more than 8,000 feet at the Sierra crest in the east. Temperatures vary with elevation and season. Average low, 20-40 degrees. Average rainfall, 40-50 inches. Average snowfall, up to 300 inches (High Sierra elevations).

Population 48,000 and growing – but not too fast! Ratio is still one person to every 14 acres. Folks are friendly and helpful, just ask. The Size of it

Excellent driving on main roads and side roads that wind seamlessly through the county. Bright blue directional signs keep visitors on the right track. Motorcycles and sports cars find highway bliss on scenic routes throughout. Beautifully banked and graded, this is the ultimate ride. Just watch the speed limit and you’re on a roll!
