life in Him to His glory and for your good. The auction is just a week and a half away. Casey and her helpers have put in many hours to get everything ready and many of the friends of First Lutheran have given some great items for auction. We hope your busy schedules will allow you to join us on April 14 for a great night of fun and fellowship. ART NEWS: The Elementary and Middle School Art Show is currently open at the Ponca City Art Center, 819 East Central. Several of our students in grades 2-5 have art work displayed. This student exhibit will be on display from March 10th to April 8th. The Art Center is open Wednesday-Sunday, 1:00-5:00. Our students often have art work displayed on our cafeteria bulletin boards and in the hallways of the Elementary and Administration Buildings. CHAPEL OFFERING: The chapel offering for April and May has been designated to Lutheran Relief for tornado victims in Harrisburg, Ill. Our first grade teacher Mrs. Adams’ father is ministering to that region. AUCTION: Please join us April 14th for the FLS Auction! Tickets are now on sale! Order forms will be coming home later this week! Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. If you have any questions or to purchase tickets please contact the school office. SPRING MUSICAL: Mark your calendars for Friday, April 27. Grades 1-5 are presenting the Spring Musical, “Lifesong”. It is so important to have all children in these grades in attendance that evening. We've worked long and hard on this musical. Each child contributes in his/her own special way. We look forward to seeing you there! SUMMER CHILDCARE: We are now enrolling for summer child care! If you are interested or want for information you can call the child care center at 762-1124. PRE-SCHOOL – Ms. V: Happy Easter! School will not be session Friday for Good Friday and Monday for Easter Monday. We had a wonderful Easter Party. Thank you to the parents for helping. Put it on your radar that our next field trip is April 20th to the Poncan Theatre for the Stephen Fite concert. We have learned some secondary colors and continue to learn, learn, learn! God's Blessings! 1

PRE-KINDERGARTEN - Mrs. Kelly: Happy Easter! Our Easter egg hunt and party is tomorrow. Look for the note in backpacks today. We will not have school Friday or Monday. Book orders are due to me or online by Tuesday, April 10th. We will have show and tell next Friday, April 13th, we will also be singing in chapel that day. Keep reading and bringing your jelly beans back to me. Have a great week. KINDERGARTEN - Ms. Miller: Show and tell will be this Thursday the 5th. We will also sing in Chapel at 8:30 am on Thursday and have our Easter egg hunt in the afternoon. If you have not brought back your child's report card please do, thank you. I hope everyone has an awesome Easter break on Friday and Monday. Easter blessings to you and your family and have an exceptional week! FIRST GRADE- Mrs. Adams: This week we are studying Holy Week and really emphasizing what Christ has done for us. Our memory verse is "Serve one another in love." Galations 5:13. Our spelling words for the week are: far, car, yard, star, dark, start, work, these, sadly, softly. Remember that we will be taking our spelling test and saying our memory verse tomorrow! Please make sure your child knows the memory verse. A few reminders: 1. We will be having an egg hunt tomorrow, weather permitting it will be at 5th St. park. 2. The auction is almost here; please get your money and items in to me ASAP! Have a wonderful Easter break! SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: We are busy working on our school musical. It will be GREAT! Save the date, I know you will be blessed. We will study the same list of spelling words for these two short weeks. We will take the test over these words (in cursive) on April 13. Since we’ve finished the ten commandments for memory work the children will be getting memory work assignments each Wednesday to be recited the following Wednesday. Thanks for your help with this. Have you bought your auction tickets? It is always a great event and you won’t want to miss it. Track T-shirt orders are due TODAY! We will be participating in the Oklahoma Lutheran Track Meet on May 4. We love to have parents join us. Have a blessed Easter! Please be sure your child worships our risen Savior in church this Sunday! THIRD GRADE - Ms. Svajhart: Happy Easter! I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend and remember what Jesus did for each one of us! This week: Memory: Apostles Creed. Spelling: Test on Thursday, April 5th over Thunder Cake words. Social Studies: Native American project that is being done in class. Ask your child how they are coming on this; some things might need to be done at home like finding pictures. Science: Lab on Force. Auction: I hope to see everyone there, next Saturday, April 14th. Our class project is coming together and everyone is excited about it. FOURTH GRADE - Mrs. Klein: Welcome to Holy Week at First Lutheran. This is a time when we especially focus on the suffering and death of our Savior. We remember that He did it all for us. Fourth graders are writing about the events of Holy Week. There are two short school weeks, and we are using some time to practice the spring musical. Students will need to use some extra time at home to keep up their AR reading. We certainly enjoyed the celebration for our last quarter AR efforts on Friday. Way to go students! Easter blessings! FIFTH GRADE - Mrs. Schatte: Tests this week include spelling and reading, tomorrow. See my Fast Direct Bulletin Board for information pertaining to book reports and state oral reports. Have a blessed Easter! Remember to attend the church of your choice. Blessings! Middle School Attention 7th grade parents – The 7th graders have been working very hard in the All Stars Prevention curriculum. It has been such a privilege to work with your children as they set goals to achieve their ideal futures. To celebrate their hard work, we will be having a celebration dinner Thursday, April 19 at 6:00. FLS will provide Head Country BBQ sandwiches, drinks, and chips. Please bring a dessert or side dish to share. Families are invited, but we would like to have a RSVP by April 10. Call Karen Wiehle at 765-2939 for RSVP or questions. Come support all of the 7th graders as they commit to making wise choices for their futures! Mrs. Harbeson: Short and sweet this week...8th graders, please bring 3 to 4 pictures of your early to present school years to me by April 27 for extra credit points. 7th and 8th graders will be having their punctuation unit test Wednesday of next week. 6th grade is continuing their grammar study on nouns. All classes have received their 4th quarter novels. Please keep up with the reading and be prepared for your 2

quizzes. Also, if you are absent for any reason, it is your responsibility to get your assignments and get them handed in ASAP. I have several students who have missing work. Parents, please get on FastDirect and see if your student is current on his assignments. Have a blessed Easter! Mrs. Hanson: 6th Grade- getting into some real chemistry stuff! Chemical reactions. This chapter will be crammed with 'lots of new information. So students, keep up! Keepin' up is easier than catchin' up. We will take things slow, but this is the content that will carry through to high school and even college years. 7th Grade- We are looking at some of the smallest living creatures on the planet, protists and fungi. With each following chapter, the creatures we study will get larger and larger. If anyone has a pond on their property, or regularly visits or passes one on your route, I would love to get some pond samples. Most protists are microscopic so they are difficult to study. Most are also found in fresh water. So if we are able to get some samples, we can actually view these little creatures which help us better understand them and remember the content. 8th Grade- To infinity and beyond! The next odyssey in science class is to space. We have begun a chapter on Earth, Moon, and Sun. This chapter is not in the student's books. I have provided the kids with an interactive outline that we will complete in class as a group and will act as our "text" for this chapter. Lecture note taking is also very important this chapter. Students need to make sure all of these things are neatly organized in their folder so they can be used for referencing and studying. Mrs. Ramsey: The weather is wonderful, the kids are great, and we're having an awesome time. The students did a fabulous job staying caught up this first week...keep it going. 6th math is starting integers and integer operations, 7th is working with square roots and pre-algebra is drowning in geometry (look for their LOADED study sheet). Algebra students learned a new song yesterday...ask to hear it! Have a wonderful Easter weekend and don't forget to worship our risen Lord at the church of your choice. You are always welcome at First Lutheran. In His service... Mr. Watters: Everybody has begun the 4th quarter in good shape. Sixth grade has a test on Thursday over chapters 30/31 and 8th grade has their newspaper due on Thursday. Please ask your students about this. Seventh grade will not be testing until next week, 8th graders need to turn in their scrapbook project. If possible this should be turned in by Thursday and certainly no later than Tuesday, April 10. If anyone has questions about the scrapbook for the auction please contact Sandi Lyons 761-6702. Our first track meet will be the Tuesday after Easter and a hand out went out today with the students. Have a great Easter.
