Registration after deadline will require approval and payment of a $10 late fee. Swim lesson level ages are only a general guide; instructors may place a child older or younger in a lesson level. If you are unable to attend your class, there is no making the class up another day; we do our best to keep the student-teacher ratios consistent in order to teach classes successfully. FAMILY SERVICES & SKILLS DEVELOPMENT Bea Bonner McKinstry Begin To Swim Program June 20 - 24 Free swimming lessons offered to all ages. Participants must pre-register. Classes held in competitive pool. Registration deadline is June 16. All classes are limited to 30 participants. The focus of this program is to introduce water safety and swimming skills to non swimmers. Classes: Parent/Child (0-2) Preschool (3-5) Preschool (3-5) Grade School Grade School

The commitment of Bea Bonner McKinstry to the YMCA of Dodge County and her desire for all youth to learn to swim inspired the establishment of a special endowment fund. In honor of her eightieth birthday in 1989, her husband Randall McKinstry and her son John B. McKinstry created an endowment fund to establish the YMCA’s Bea Bonner McKinstry “Begin to Swim Program.”

QUALITY OF LIFE The YMCA of Dodge County initiates, supports

and participates in a variety of Quality of Life services for local and global community outreach programs. Please join us in our next food, clothing and toy drives. Watch our website and posters throughout the facility for our next drive! To-

The Story of Bea Bonner McKinstry

gether, we can continue to make a difference.

On June 24, 1927, Bea Bonner and two friends were boating on Fox Lake when an unexpected storm hit the lake. In the turmoil of the storm, two men in a boat tried to rescue the girls. In spite of attempts to save them, her two young friends and one of the men drowned. It was only because she was a strong swimmer that Bea was able to survive. The message of this tragedy never left Bea. Because of the McKinstry’s concern and generosity, this endowment fund will benefit all youth, and hopefully prevent such a tragedy.

Part of the Y’s social responsibility is doing our part in using resources wisely. One of the ways we are making an effort is to reduce printing - saving our planet’s resources and our funding resources. Please help us by: • Joining our email list by signing up at www.theYdc.org to receive program information and updates via email • Save your copy of this guide for all sessions (through August) • Recycle this guide when finished

FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Giving back and providing support to our neighbors

VOLUNTEERISM & GIVING FINANCIAL SUPPORT The Y makes strengthening our communities our cause. As a nonprofit organization we count on the generosity of our members and partners to keep our doors open to whoever needs a place to help them be more healthy, confident, connected and secure. Here are just a few of the ways you can support your Y: Sponsor Y Camps & Events The Y is here to give everyone an opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. By sponsoring a kids day camp, sports camp or an event, you will have made a direct impact to a child, adult or senior member of your community. For sponsorship opportunities this spring and summer, contact Jen Kruel.

Inspired Steps Give Health To All Annual Don Reilly Cardiac Run / Walk Saturday, August 27 As fundraiser for the Y in honor of Don Reilly, sponsorship, participation in the event and volunteering are all meaningful ways to contribute this summer. Every step leads toward your health while contributing towards the health of others with the assistance of funds raised. Please join us! (For business sponsorship opportunities, contact Jenny Pufahl.)

The Y would like to offer you an opportunity to support the new facility and at the same time receive tangible recognition for your generosity. You may now buy a brick and help to Build a Lifetime of Opportunities, one brick at a time. These displays serve as a reminder to future generations of their legacy to the Y. Bricks are displayed outside in the front of the Y; tiles will be displayed on the wall by the gym.

Annual Support Campaign When you give to the Y, you continue to strengthen our community and move us all forward. As the nation’s leading nonprofit for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y uses your gift to make a meaningful, enduring impact right in your own neighborhood.

Event Volunteers There is no other volunteer organization quite like the Y. We work tirelessly every day to nurture the potential of kids, improve the nation’s health and well-being, and give back and support our neighbors.

Our Annual Support Campaign (formerly known as our Strong Kids Campaign) is the foundation that provides us with the ability to ensure that no child, family or adult is turned away due to inability to pay. We recognize that for communities to succeed, everyone must be given the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected and secure. For more information, please visit www.theYdc.org and consider a donation today. SCRIP - Fundraising While You Shop Give a percentage to the Y as you purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, gifts and entertainment. SCRIP is a program that allows you to purchase gift cards for personal use or gifts and a portion of that SCRIP card is donated to the Y. There is no additional expense for you! Simply use SCRIP cards for everyday purchases and automatically provide support to your Y! Order or view a full directory of available SCRIP cards at www.theYdc.org, or at the Welcome Center. Building a Lifetime of Opportunities The values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility are implemented into every aspect of the Y’s services, program development, and operations. With the current community impact that the Y has, you can help make sure that these lasting values are woven into our community as well. 20 | For Social Responsibility

Code of Conduct

Aquatics Information

The mission of the Y is to respond to the needs of families through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Y principles include honesty, responsibility, caring and respect. These core principles are the basis for all we do as an organization. Using our core principles as a guide, we have developed the following Code of Conduct to ensure all who enter our facility enjoy a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment.

The competitive pool and family waterpark pool schedules are published on our website and are available in print form at the Welcome Center. Pool schedules are subject to change; schedule changes are published on www.theYdc.org, on www.facebook.com/theYdc and posted throughout the facility.

We ask each guest to act in a manner that upholds these principles at all times when in our facility or participating in our programming. We expect those using the Y to behave in a way that shows respect and caring for others, which includes not using any language or engaging in any action that can hurt or frighten another person, or that falls below a generally accepted standard of conduct. Actions not showing respect for others and are not permitted include: • Wearing inappropriate attire. Attire must include swimsuits only in the pool area; shoes, shorts and shirt or leotard in other areas of the facility. Clothing with vulgar or profane writing or pictures is not allowed. • Using angry or vulgar language; swearing, name calling or shouting. • Making physical contact with another person in an angry or threatening way. • Engaging in sexual activity or contact with another person. • Harassment or intimidation with words, gestures, or body language.
