This 3 bed, 2.5 bath Nashville home was fully renovated with new exterior and interior finishes and updated floor plan to create a spacious, open-concept living, dining, and kitchen, along with the addition of a powder room and expanded primary en-suite. The kitchen design features a large island with quartz countertops and waterfall edge, a seamless quartz slab backsplash, floating wood shelves, farmhouse sink, upgraded stainless steel appliances, and statement light fixtures. The primary en-suite was doubled in size and fully upgraded with a glass shower, seamless marble-look porcelain floor and wall tiles, and dual vanity sinks with LED mirrors.

The primary en-suite design includes a sliding glass shower with marble-look porcelain wall tiles and gray vanity with matte black accents to tie in with the kitchen.

The kitchen design features a peninsula with seamless white cabinetry and crown molding, quartz countertops, floating wood shelves, stainless steel appliances, a farmhouse sink, and statement light fixtures. The primary bedroom was expanded and the ceiling was raised and vaulted to meet code requirements and create a spacious affect. The floor plan was reworked to add a primary en-suite , featuring a glass shower with sleek subway tiles and dual vanity sinks with LED mirrors.

INTRODUCTION
60-80% of negative environmental impacts are caused by household consumption, primarily material goods and the use of energy from fossil fuels; and studies show that high levels of consumption are only making us unhappy and leading to an increase in stress and social isolation. The purpose of this project was to design a multi-family mixed-use development which allows residents to significantly reduce their eco-footprints while improving their subjective happiness through an access-based approach to sustainable lifestyles. This approach allows residents to live minimally while gaining access to more spaces and resources and build strong social relationships through a community network. We all have a role to play in mitigating climate change, and by establishing sustainable communities, we can reduce our environmental impact while living richer lives.
DESIGN CONCEPT | INTERDEPENDENCE
“The idea that everything in nature is connected and depends on every other thing”
Research shows that sustainability, health, wellness, community, and happiness are inherently linked and produce mutually beneficial outcomes. The concept of interdependence fosters the connections between all elements of lifestyle and promotes a holistic approach to sustainable living.
PROJECT STATEMENT
This design is a mixed-use living environment which uses access to embed sustainability into the lifestyle of the community. Through spaces such as the sustainable market, communal laundry and rooftop garden, as well as the ability to recycle, compost, and share goods and spaces with neighbors, convenient access to resources seamlessly integrate sustainable behaviors into everyday routines. By designing smaller and more compact apartments, while putting emphasis on thoughtfully designed communal spaces, the cost of living remains affordable, eco-footprints are reduced, and neighbors form a tight-knit community. These spaces are intended to combine mutually beneficial design strategies to develop a lifestyle around sustainability, access, authentic happiness, and human connection to create a home which residents see as permanent.

Inspired by the natural landscapes surrounding their properties, the new corporate office for Auberge Resorts Collection works to create a calming and productive work environment within the forests and vineyards of Napa Valley, California. Through the use of organic forms, raw, natural materials, and an earth tone color palette, this design aims to capture the relaxed sophistication of the Auberge brand while complementing the surrounding landscape.

The goal of this concept is to inspire a new corporate office in Pittsburgh for Vancouver-based firm, REX Marketing and Design, reflecting their company’s branding, mission, and origin. This concept works to represent the company’s office culture based on connection, encouragement and friendship by creating a casual and diverse work environment. The goal for this design is to create work spaces which inspire collaboration, productivity and creativity, allowing REX’s marketing and graphic design teams to continue helping businesses connect with their customers.
