PROJECTS

Health Services & Community Direct The physical and social needs of the senior citizens of the two golden Aged Homes in August Town and the Bedward community, and the eight Shutins� in the Community of Elletson Flats, yet again, received the needed attention of the Lions Club. They received packages of groceries and toilet articles and the longed for hugs from the Lions who delivered the packages with much love. 3


The geriatrics and “shut-ins “ received the items with lots of praise and love for the Lions. Participating were: Lion President Milton, Lions Josephine and Tony and guest Sandra . Value of project: tJA$42,800.00 October 7

Health Services

The Lions Club of Mona joined forces with the members of the Shortwood United Church and conducted a Health Fair with the sole purpose of satisfying some of the health needs of the needy members of the environs of the church and other surrounding communities. The Club conducted vision screening and weight management including BMI and nutrition counseling. Forty two persons including children had their visual acuity tests done. Eight persons were referred to the Fish Ophthalmology Clinic for follow –up and management. Lions participating in this activity were: Lion President and secretary Lion Evadney, Lions Josephine, Anthony and Barry.

October 6 Senior Citizens The health and nutritional needs of an elderly man were satisfied through the actions of two Lions who saw his need and had compassion. The senior citizen was always very grateful for the act of kindness. Value of Project JA$12,000.00

ACTIVITIES October 4

Membership/ Interclubbing The Lion President and two other Lions and four guests participated in a day of fun and laughter at the Lions Club of St Mary Family and fun day at the beautiful Tapioca Village.

October 8

Membership The Lion President and Lion Keith participated in the Society of the Blind stakeholders annual meeting. The occasion was organized by the HEART/NTA and held at the UWI Nona Lions Resource Center. 4


October 24

Membership The Lion President, four Lions and one guest attended the Zone 4A meeting held in St Mary and hosted by the Lions Club of St Mary.

October 26

Membership/ Induction of members The Lions Club of St Andrew Central joined with the Lions Club of Mona in their induction ceremony. Each club inducted two members. The function was well attended. MEMBERSHIP STATUS The Region and Zone Chairpersons were in attendance. The evening was a beautiful one. Each club increased its membership by two members. 37

Information Technology 24 9 Most of the communication between the membership has been via the 2 internet or text1messages. Committee chairs also use this medium -conferencing, 1to avoid travelling to places to hold meetings. This has proven to be very useful with less time travelling to meetings. .
