Team NB Upsets Ecole Foot Beauce Quebec in U18 Football Team New Brunswick U18 Football team ended its Summer football program on 2 July with a 29-7 win over Beauce Condors of Quebec in Under 18 football in Saint John in front of 250 fans. The U18 NB team was a bigger team at offensive line than the Beauce team and this showed by the controlled line play from team NB. During NB’s first possession the team drove 70 yards with running back Blake Murphy (Fredericton High School) running the ball in from the 15 yd line to open the scoring in the first quarter. Late in the first quarter Team NB scored again on a 20 pass play from QB Michael Bohan (Tantramar) to wide receiver Matthew Code of (Leo Hayes High). Casey Glennen from Riverview had the point after blocked. Beauce Condors opened the second quarter with a 65yd drive with Samuel St-Laurent being the work horse carrying the ball twice and Charles-Olivier Poulin then catching two passes to bring them to the 3 yd line of Team NB. On the next play team NB forced a turnover to stop the Quebec pressure, and end the half. In the third quarter Team NB and Quebec made short drives only to punt the ball away. New Brunswick’s first drive in the fourth quarter led to a 40 touchdown run by Saint John High running back Fred Hammond to the delight of the home town crowd. On Quebec’s next possession they drove the field under QB Marc-Antoine Poulin to set up a 14 yd touchdown run by Sameul St-Laurent. Team NB finished out the scoring with a 20 pass from QB Kyle McConnel (Brinice MacNaughton) to Andrew Doran (St Malachy’s Memorial). After the game, Team NB hosted a pizza meal for both teams.
