WHERE DOES THE WORD ‘FAKE’ COME FROM? BY LINDSEY AHMET Graphic design Student

The nautical word meaning is “one of the windings of a cable or hawser in a coil” but this is likely to be unrelated. The swedish word “veck or “a fold” and as a verb “to feign, simulate” from 1941. The term “to fake it” is from 1915 jazz slang and to “fake someone out” is from the Swedish glamour model, Natasha Crown 1940s sports scene.(Harper, (2001).

The word fake is of unknown origin; however it can be traced back to 1775 London where it was a criminal slang adjective “Counterfeit”. The verb in 1812 was “to rob” & the noun in 1851 was to be known as “a swindle” and in 1888 “a swindler”. It is said that another likely source is Most of early words used to represent “feague” which means “to spruce up thieves and the slang of that culture derives from Germany. German word fegen “Polish, Sweep,” and It could also be from the Latin word “Facere” also “to clear out, plunder” in colloquial use. or “to do”.

Sadiq Khan gets reprimanded by the Queen for his comments on Trump BY PAULIE DOYLE

The Vice, 19 December 2017

As far as the right is concerned, Sadiq Khan is a very busy man, attempting to establish both Sharia law and a marxistfeminist state in London. So the last thing he needed on his plate was to get OWNED by her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, who, after Sadiq called on the government to cancel President Trump’s planned state visit, “refused to retract” the invite. The story, of course, was yet another fabrication by proTrump media – one that appears to stem from a fairly basic misunderstanding of how state visits work.

In January, Theresa May extended a state visit invitation to Trump, which would have hosted by the Queen. Since then, Khan has called for Trump’s visit to be cancelled, but the Queen hasn’t responded at all, much less “refused to retract” an invitation she never personally made. No one seems certain about what the current state of play is with this one, but the latest reports suggest that Trump’s planned visit has been downgraded from a state visit to a “working visit”, meaning he won’t meet with the Queen at all.
