After months of development with the fab design team at United Agency, we’ll be launching our new website very soon.

• We think you’ll find that the site still looks recognisably Drill Hall, but with a fresh new look that reflects our values - friendly, open, full of vibrant colours and, dare we say it, stylish! • The site navigation is easier to use and we have striven to bring you a more enjoyable booking experience, making your journey online far more fun and interesting than before. • There are improved search facilities so you can more quickly find the events you are looking for • There’s more information about events, including reviews, video and links. • It’s easier to find out about everything else you can experience here at the Drill Hall, from our café bar to our participation opportunities. • It’s now easy to share your experiences of the Drill Hall through social media or you can use your Facebook and Twitter accounts to leave comments on our website. • The site also includes more news, features, blogs, videos and other content about the performers, artists and thinkers that make up our programme. • You can buy fabulous event-related goodies from our well-stocked online shop. • And another great thing – our new website now scales down on mobile devices, so you can still access all the features when you’re on the move! So, look out for the new site – we’ll be announcing its launch very soon - have a browse, and let us know what you think! We'd love to hear from you, so if you have any suggestions, comments or queries, find a page or link that doesn't work or just want to say hello, just get in touch via any of the normal channels. THURSDAY 27 APRIL 7.30PM DENADA DANCE THEATRE

HAM & PASSION LINCOLN DRILL HALL IS A CHARITY We are a registered charity dedicated to giving everyone the chance to experience the arts. At the heart of everything we do is the belief that the arts enrich lives and help communities to thrive and that arts experiences should be accessible to all, regardless of age, background or circumstance. Across 800+ events each year we offer positive change for our city. WE CHANGE LIVES: for example, 1100 people with disabilities attend our Butterfly Club events each year. WE CHANGE PLACE: 90% of people believe we enhance the sense of community in Lincoln. WE CHANGE PERCEPTIONS: “This show opened my eyes... and also taught me so much.”

A true feast of meaty dance soaked in a salsa of passion! From a dingy cabaret in Civil War Barcelona, where a drag artiste murders her fascist lover backstage, passing through a lustful duel of seduction between two machos, and ending with a divine apparition in a kitchen of 1950s Seville, Ham and Passion is an exhilarating and filmic spectacle that promises to subvert the senses. “...oozes a dark and twisted eroticism heavily laced with machismo-skewering humour.” The Stage Suitable for ages 15+ Contains nudity TICKETS: £12 (£10 CONCESSIONS, £8 STUDENTS)

WEDNESDAY 3 MAY 2PM & 7PM NOTNOW COLLECTIVE

WONDER WOMAN THE NAKED TRUTH Notnow Collective present a show that considers family, parenthood and work-home subjects in a challenging, visual and immersive way. “How do we discuss sex in front of the sandpit, write a thriller inside a playpen and arrange a hot date whilst playing Lego?” Our ambition didn’t disappear when we had kids. It is ever-present, and often in conflict.”

We also work hard to keep tickets affordable and offer a range of free events so that as many people as possible can take part. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT Every penny we receive goes towards making the Drill Hall the best it can possibly be - improving our facilities, expanding our programme of events and offering more opportunities for people of all ages. Every donation, however small, makes a really big difference to us. YOUR DONATION WILL BE DOUBLED! If you donate now, your gift will be matched £ for £ by Arts Council England through its CATALYST: EVOLVE initiative, instantly doubling your donation. There are many ways to donate including: • Become a Friend of Lincoln Drill Hall. • Add a donation to your next ticket booking. • Make a one-off donation. • Become a corporate supporter or sponsor there are many ways businesses can benefit from a partnership with us. • Buy a Drill Hall mug, wristband, bag or our super-cuddly Mouse-cot, Rusty! • Or simply pop a few coins in the collection box in our foyer. • You can also support us through Localgiving. TUESDAY 18 JULY 7.30PM GERMAINE GREER - WOMEN FOR LIFE ON EARTH: THE INEVITABILITY OF ECOFEMINISM When Welsh women turned up at the RAF base at Greenham Common in 1981, they were carrying a banner that read ‘Women for Life on Earth’. Theirs was direct action, born of gut reaction, virtually innocent of theoretical framework. Feminists can be found wherever the planet and our fellow earthlings are in trouble. They stand in front of lorries carrying live animals to slaughter, lash themselves to conveyor belts in protest against the logging of old-growth forests, march and lobby against the threat of fracking. The action they cannot be moved to take on their own behalf, they take on behalf of the planet. If the planet is to survive and human beings continue to inhabit it, this female energy must be unleashed. TICKETS: £15 (£13 CONCESSIONS) FRIDAY 28 JULY 12NOON LITERATURE TALK & FILM WITH DR JANE MACKAY WIDE SARGASSO SEA BY JEAN RHYS Born in Dominica in 1890 Rhys was always intrigued by the history of the 1st Mrs Rochester in Charlotte Bronte’s ‘Jane Eyre’. Out of that fascination, together with her own background, she produced this literary masterpiece...not in any way a ‘follow-up’ derivative but an exquisite literary masterpiece in its own right. 2.30PM FILM: WIDE SARGASSO SEA (1993, 15, 98MINS) Directed by John Duigan and starring Nathaniel Parker, Rachel Ward and Michael York. TICKETS: TALK ONLY £6.50 / TALK & FILM £10 Please note, both talk and film take place in The Auditorium FRIDAY 25 AUGUST 12NOON LITERATURE TALK & FILM WITH DR JANE MACKAY THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE BY MURIEL SPARK Respected world-wide for her many novels, plays and biographies, Spark is probably best known for this short novel. For Scottish readers one of its delights is the vivid recreation of Edinburgh and its double standards and Calvinistic rules. Jean Brodie is an unorthodox teacher in a very orthodox girls’ school. Her free-thinking ideas and charm persuade her ‘set’ of girls that rules are there to be broken by the elite...with tragic results for herself and some of the girls. 2.30PM FILM: THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE (1969, 12, 116MINS) Directed by Ronald Neame and starring Maggie Smith, Robert Stephens, and Celia Johnson. TICKETS: TALK ONLY £6.50 / TALK & FILM £10 Please note, both talk and film take place in The Auditorium PHILOSOPHY CAFÉ Saturday 29 April, 27 May, 24 June, 29 July & 26 August, 2.30pm. Uplifting and inspiring, challenging and rewarding, join us for our monthly afternoons of informal discussion and conversation. Previous topics have included ‘What is Life For?’, ‘What Makes a Good Education?’ and “What’s the point of community and does social media help or hinder it?”

ILLYRIA: THE COMEDY OF ERRORS

In the bard’s shortest, funniest and most rumbustious comedy, two sets of identical twins, separated at birth, unknowingly end up in the same city. As more and more people are sucked into a vortex of mistaken identity, will anything ever make sense again? To cap it all, this year Illyria’s Shakespeare production is re-located to the town of Ephesus, Mexico, and is performed by our very own 5-piece Mariachi band, resplendent in ponchos and sombreros. Ay caramba! Recommended for adults and children aged 5+ TICKETS: £13.50 (£11.50 CONCESSIONS & CHILDREN)
