Admission for ticketed guests begins at 7:30 pm. Seating for guests with disabilities will begin at 7:15 pm. Seating is on a first- come, first-served basis. The Commencement Ceremony provides an opportunity for the College to pay tribute to you for the outstanding effort you have shown in earning your degree. It’s also an opportunity for you to share the excitement and importance of your accomplishments with the administration, faculty, alumni, fellow graduates, and family and friends. We hope you will join in this celebration of your achievements. The graduate procession will begin promptly at 8 pm. Photographers Professional photographers have been engaged to photograph graduates. All graduates will have their pictures taken on stage and will be emailed an order form following the ceremony. Graduates can choose pictures and packages available online at http://www.thorntonstudio.com.
Commencement Shop Your family can purchase flowers and commemorative t-shirts in celebration of your special day. Items can be pre-ordered online at http://www.limcollege.edu/commencement and picked up on the day of Commencement.
Academic Attire Graduates and degree candidates who wish to participate in Commencement are required to wear academic attire. The deadline for ordering this regalia has now passed. Students will not be permitted to participate in the ceremony without the proper regalia.
Caps, Gowns & Hoods Distribution Caps and gowns will be distributed by the LIM College Bookstore from May 4-18, 2018 from 9 am-5 pm. Photo ID is required. All degree candidates are strongly encouraged to pick up their own academic attire. If you cannot pick up your cap & gown during the above hours, please email email@example.com with your name, ID number, and the name of the person who is going to pick up your cap and gown. No academic attire will be distributed on the day of Commencement.
If you are unable to pick up your cap and gown, you can have them shipped to you by going to https://commencement2018capsandgowns.ev entbrite.com and paying a shipping and handling fee of $8.32. Orders must be placed by May 16.
Tickets for admission to the Commencement Ceremony are limited to guests of graduates in the academic procession. Each graduate will receive two complimentary tickets. You can purchase additional Commencement tickets online for $30 (plus a service fee) each. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Graduate seating is reserved and tickets are not required for graduates. Complimentary tickets will be available for pick-up in the Office of Student Life starting May 4.
GRADUATE ARRIVAL AND CLASS PHOTOSÂ All students should arrive at the Carnegie Hall stage door at 161 W. 56th St. at 6 pm. All students will then go to the auditorium for a group photo with President Marcuse and then proceed to Registration. Graduate students will remain for a second photo. After the graduate student photo, all Honors students [Delta Mu Delta, Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, Summa Cum Laude and Fashion Scholars] will also take a group photo with President Marcuse.
GRADUATION ELIGIBILITYÂ Receipt of a Commencement letter or postcard from the Office of Student Life does not signify that you have fulfilled all your academic requirements and does not indicate that you are eligible to graduate. You must have filed an Application for Degree Audit form with the Registrarâ€™s Office prior to Sunday, April 8 to be eligible to participate in the ceremony and for your name to appear in the Commencement program. If you have not already filed your Application for Degree Audit form by the above date, please contact the Office of the Registrar at firstname.lastname@example.org.
UNDGERGRADUATE HONORS & AWARDS Eligible students who will graduate with honors will receive their honor cords to wear during the ceremony. Cords will be available for pick-up starting May 4 in the Office of Student Life, located in the lower level of Maxwell Hall.
Cum Laude: 3.50 to 3.69 Cumulative GPA (single) Magna Cum Laude: 3.70 to 3.84 Cumulative GPA (double) Summa Cum Laude: 3.85 cumulative GPA and higher (sash)
Diploma covers are handed out during the ceremony. Diplomas are mailed to graduates approximately 12 weeks after graduation. Diplomas will not be issued to any degree candidates who have outstanding financial obligations to the College.
INTERNATIONAL VISA REQUESTS
International guests who plan to attend the Commencement ceremony may need to apply for a U.S. Visitor Visa (B-2). View the U.S. visa policy for information about applying for a visa through the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where the visa application will be made. Applications will need to show that the visit to the U.S. is temporary, that there are adequate finances to cover the trip, and that they intend to return to their home country (proof of ties such as a job, family, property or other commitments). Students may need to send supporting evidence to their guest(s). To obtain an invitation letter, please schedule an appointment with the Office of International Student Services, email@example.com.
All graduates must check-in at the registration table in their respective rooms (Orchestra Room 5 for graduate students, Orchestra Room 6 for undergraduates). There you will be given your name card, which you will carry with you and hand to the announcer who will call your name before you walk across the stage. Please secure any money and credit cards in a pocket-sized holder.

Purses and handbags will NOT be allowed beyond Registration.
SEATING FOR GUESTS WITH DISABILITIES WILL BEGIN AT 7:15 PM. SEATING IS ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS.
Doors will open at 7:30 pm for all other ticketed guests. Carnegie Hall does not allow for the saving of seats, so all parties must arrive and be seated together. The First Mezzanine doors will close at 7:50 pm for the Academic Procession. All guests will be required to adhere to this schedule.
