PROJECT DESCRIPTION Provide design-build services to renovate the Richmond Federal Building ground floor cafeteria and dining areas. The final design and construction will right-size the existing cafeteria/dining are while providing new conference rooms and new office spaces for the building’s janitorial contractors. PROJECT DESCRIPTION The overall scope of the project involved the interior demolition of existing office spaces and reconfiguring to a hospital command center in a former historic hospital building. The existing wood floor was completely removed and the void filled with a cementitious topping. Extensive mechanical electrical upgrades included installation of (2) 7.5 ton CRAC units, (8) air-to-air heat pumps, added a 50kVA UPS unit, added an additional circuit and breaker panel feed from a MPD 3 floors below, electrical feeds to several modular workstations, rough-in for a structured Comm/Data cable system and rough-in for an internal security system (door control). Other features included a raised computer access flooring over three quarters of the floor space, new acoustic ceilings and carpet. Three areas within the finished space were built out to meet SCIF requirements necessitating the requirements for specialized security hardware for the doors. The existing roof required additional structural steel reinforcing below the CIP roof structure to support the weight of the condensing units for the HVAC system.
