VAMCOSA supports WAITEX and Trade Mission to Ghana The members of the Valve and Actuator Manufacturers Cluster South Africa (VAMCOSA) are expanding their horizon and looking for new export markets. VAMCOSA forms part of an initiative led by industry in support of The Department of Trade and Indus-try (the dti) named the Africa Trade Group, which includes the Mining Equipment Manufacturers Clus-ter South Africa (MEMSA) and several other clusters of the SA Capital Equipment Export Council (SACEEC).
This working group aims to look at Africa for new markets, to establish partnerships with upcoming African markets in Mining and Capital Equipment space. The first practical AfricantheIndustrial Trade Exhibition output of this initiative is to establish and strengthen current ties with the Ghanaian counterparts through a Trade Mission to Accra, in conjunction with the exhibition, the West African Industrial Trade Exhibition (WAITEX), held from 21-23 April 2020 in Accra, Ghana. Ghana is Africa’s second-largest producer of Gold and also produces diamonds, manganese ore and bauxite, as well as oil and natural gas, timber, tuna and horticultural produce, amongst others. Large and small-scale mining companies operate in Ghana, with junior gold-mining companies also emerging.
The dti works with the relevant industry bodies to establish strong ties with the relevant Ministries, industry bodies and procuring entities with a specific focus on the Mining Houses and Buying houses in Ghana. Furthermore, the mission is expected to include a mine visit for the South African Trade dele-gation.
