Pitches rejuvenated!

Aerobics

The all weather pitches at Liverpool Aquatics Centre have just undergone a substantial investment which will restore the playing surfaces to their original condition and prolong the life of the facility.

Why do it? Good all-round group exercise to help you tone up and stay in shape. Some classes work on specific areas - such as bums, tums and/or thighs - so you can pick what suits you best.

Aqua Running

Why do it? A non weight-bearing activity designed to optimize cardiovascular and muscular conditioning, while minimizing joint, bone, muscular, tendon and ligament stress.

Boxercise

Why do it? High-impact boxing training workout that helps you tone up, have fun and beat stress. Classes don’t involve any physical contact.

BODYATTACK®

Why do it? A cardio workout designed for building strength and stamina. This high-energy interval training class combines athletic aerobics with strength and stabilization exercises.

BODY BALANCE®

Why do it? A Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates workout that builds flexibility and strength and leaves you feeling centered and calm. Controlled breathing, concentration and a carefully structured series of stretches, moves and poses.

BODYCOMBAT®

Why do it? An energetic program is inspired by martial arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as Karate, boxing, Taekwondo, Tai Chi and Muay Thai. Strike, punch, kick and kata through calories to superior cardio fitness.

BODYPUMP®

Why do it? Barbell class that strengthens your entire body. The class challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls.

Circuit Training

Why do it? Get your heart pumping with this highly effective whole body workout, guaranteed to condition muscles and burn fat fast!

Golf

Why do it? A low-impact, sociable sport that allows you to enjoy the great outdoors while improving your coordination and concentration skills.

Legs, Bums and Tums

Why do it? A lower body workout specifically designed to target and tone up problem areas.

Pilates

Why do it? Stretch, improve flexibility and balance, strengthen and tone the body. Learn how to breathe and use your body effectively with slow controlled movements to lengthen and tone muscles.

Running

Why do it? Super-effective, all-round workout that gets fast results and can easily fit into your daily routine. You can run on a treadmill, with friends, join a club or just go at your own pace.

Spinning/X-Biking

Why do it? A great all-round workout on stationary bikes. Doesn’t place as much pressure on your joints but it’s high impact and challenging.

Step aerobics

Why do it? Fun workout that’s great for those who like working out with other people to music. Particularly good for improving cardiovascular fitness and muscle tone in your legs.

Swimming

Why do it? Enjoyable lowimpact cardiovascular exercise that’s great for all-round fitness and body-toning. Good for those with joint problems or asthma.

Yoga

Why do it? Balance your mind and improve your posture. Stretch, improve flexibility and balance. Strengthen and tone the body.

Lifestyles offer a wide range of class and pool activities ask at reception for a class timetable. Don’t forget members can use any of the 16 Lifestyles Centres!

The work commenced over Easter by extracting all 40 tonnes of contaminated sand from playing surface and replacing with new sand. The work took 5 days and the pitches were reopened on 6th April. Pitches are available to book for individuals and clubs. Discounted hire rate is available during daytime, early evening (before 5.00pm) and at weekends. And the winner is…. The Festival of Health & Activity was held at Lifestyles Tennis Centre on Sunday 7th March. Lifestyles ran 2 competitions at the event. We would like to congratulate Josh Mason who won an i-pod by winning the Row Challenge and Tor Shaw Twigg who won a Nintendo Wii by entering our prize draw! Well Done!

0-5 Fun Day proves a hit! Lifestyles Cardinal Heenan, in partnership with West Derby Children’s Centre and the Future Lifestyles team, hosted the first of a proposed annual event for 0-5 year olds on Saturday 27 March.

DON’T FORGET - Under 17’s can now access a wide range of activities absolutely FREE by joining Future Lifestyles.

Activities such as storytelling, baby aerobics, gym tots and funky tots and football coaching with Liverpool Football Club proved a smash with approximately 100 families turning up.

Families also took advantage of the revolutionary mini gym featuring treadmills, rowers, steppers for 2 to 5 year olds. The Sportslinx nutrition team was also on hand to promote ‘5 a day’ healthy food options throughout the day.
