US. The changing of colors in Minnesota is always a spectacular experience. We hope our readers enjoyed a safe and happy summer. In September we band together behind our Vikings in their quest for a successful season. NFL Sundays are always memorable and a time for families to come together in backing the Purple in their quest for victory. We would like to thank community members who attended the recent “Cocktails for Causes” event at the Flying Dutchman. The Eden Prairie “Women of Substance” and “Men to Know” was an evening to remember. Thanks to Brandon Thornton, Scott Kaldenberg and Jayne Bauman for their hospitality and donation to the Eden Prairie Community Foundation. Thanks also go out to Mark Weber and the Foundation for the reciprocal donation to the Eden Prairie Chapter of Let’s Go Fishing. And finally, to two great contributors to the evening, Randy Parmley of the Crumb Deli for the

Some of the strategies HCSO implements in this multi-pronged approach are to treat those in jail with an opioid abuse use disorder, prevent  opioids from getting into the wrong hands through the distribution of medicine disposal bags called Deterra bags, and prevent fatal overdoses through the use of NARCAN spray. They are also prioritizing education about the severity of the opioid crisis through local events, town hall meetings and group meetings and presentations. Expecting a new puppy or kitten in the household? Here are the essentials Your new kitten or puppy is about to enter a completely new situation. The comfort of their mother and siblings will be replaced with unfamiliar sights and sounds, and their breeder or carer has been suddenly replaced by someone new. For these reasons you need to ensure you make the transition as stress free as possible by stocking up on necessary provisions. Your shopping list should include: • Water and food bowls • Grooming equipment (especially if you have a breed that requires regular upkeep) • Bedding • A suitable crate or carrier to bring them home (some people also use a cardboard box which can be just as effective) • Toys (suitable for puppies or kittens) • Collar and leash • ID tag • Treats • A baby gate or pen (an essential for puppies) • A litter tray and scratching post for kittens

YAZLAW.COM

First, ask about their training - an online course or in person course? How much supervised practice did they receive? How many hours of study was their certification (preferably at least 100) and is it from a national organization? Do they have requirements for yearly continuing education? Do they have standards of practice and report to an ethics board? What kind of additional certifications do they hold and are they from reputable organizations? Do they know the laws of the state that govern them, and if they are doing online/phone sessions, do they know the laws where the client is located? (in Minnesota hypnosis is regulated as an alternative medicine with rules for making claims and needing referrals.) Do you receive a document that discloses their education, procedures, fees and certifying organization in case of problems? How long have they been practicing and do they see clients full time?

FASHION WITH A PURPOSE BELLA GINA BOUTIQUE ISN’T YOUR RUN-OF-THE-MILL CLOTHING STORE. In fact, it’s not even your run-of-the-mill boutique. But to understand the meaningful concept of this boutique, you must first understand its owner, Gina Pellegrini. As an experienced financial team building consultant—so experienced, in fact, that she’s owned her own firm for more than 25 years—Gina is a believer in one very important thing: following your passion. Thus came Bella Gina Boutique. What started as a dream in her early 30s, the boutique began as a pop-up shop in 2018. It has recently found a permanent home in the shopping strip off Pioneer Trail. With the help of her niece, Kristina Pellegrini-Genadek, Gina opened the doors of Bella Gina Boutique in June 2019. “I honestly couldn’t have [opened my permanent location] without Kristina,” Gina says. “She works with me both at the consulting firm and in the boutique, and she is my right-hand girl.” Gina and Kristina work closely together to curate the boutique and provide guests with a one-of-a-kind shopping experience. When it comes to determining which brands to carry in-store, Gina is passionate about finding labels  with a unique message. She sources a variety of both local and international brands that not only create quality, long-lasting goods but also serve a larger purpose.  A handful of the  notable brands  Bella Gina carries are  Seeds Jewelry, LUA and Mona B. Seeds Jewelry is owned by a mother and daughter duo from Minnesota that started their business with a mutual love for making beautifully handcrafted jewelry and empowering others. CONTINUED >

PARTING THOUGHTS

The Jazz Man PROGRESSIVE JAZZ INVADES EDEN PRAIRIE

ARTICLE ANDREW STAVAST

HAVE YOU NOTICED ALL THE BIG JAZZ BANDS AT STARING LAKE THIS YEAR? It seems like this new step in music is not only taking hold in Eden Prairie but also throughout the state of Minnesota. With more than  seven Jazz venues such as the Dakota, Crooners and Artists Quarter, Minnesotans are flocking to a regeneration of the big bands for progressive jazz music and entertainment. West Coast Jazz,  a new radio program  produced and hosted by Bob “Vaughn” Norberg, has arrived. Vaughn grew up in the Los Angeles area and  studied music (saxophone) from elementary school through college. He and his father, who played with such bands as Glenn Miller and the Vaughn Monroe Orchestra (Vaughn’s godfather), used to hang out with the Johnny Carson Tonight Show band members as they jammed at Dante’s jazz club in Hollywood. He plans to bring the show live to several locations here locally as well as on the internet via podcast so local listeners and jazz lovers across the world can listen and enjoy this style of jazz come rain or shine or at home in their easy chairs. The first appearance of West Coast Jazz  in Eden Prairie on July 27 was at Bobby and Steve’s Auto World. Vaughn assures us that jazz lovers will be seeing many more on location jazz fests in the near future. He also told us to tell our readers: “This is not elevator music, Dorothy”. We will keep you posted on the upcoming locations for an in person visit with West Coast Jazz. Check out West Coast Jazz  on Facebook for up-to-date show information and appearance locations.
