They are 18, 21 and 26, all independent creative humans. I love being with them, not only because I am their mother, but also because they are interesting, engaging, political, funny and… good helpers in the kitchen. I depend on them to keep me current with today’s music. I made a shared playlist on Spotify called, “Mom, listen to this.” Thanks to them, I have Lizzo, SZA, Leon Bridges and Dzihan & Kamien on my phone. (I’ll share a few finds  with you, if you’re interested. Go to: SeeSueGo LifestylePubs V1 on Spotify.)   I’m bracing myself for a holiday without all the chicks in my roost. I’ll invite an otherwise solo friend to the table, so there’s another voice in the conversation and not a sad empty chair in the room. I’ll send a card and loaf of pumpkin bread to my daughter’s boyfriend’s family so there’s a little piece of me there with her. I’ll try not to cry, or if I do, I’ll escape to Kroger to pick up just one more thing and let loose in the car.    I’m sure your holidays will be different this year. Whether it’s because the faces around your table have changed or because your life has changed. It’s inevitable. Let’s promise each other we will embrace the new and make the day meaningful for those around us. Focusing on others always makes us feel better. Stronger. And, maybe you’ll discover someone new to do the dishes.   From everyone here at Lifestyle Publications, please accept our very best wishes for a

Manhattan’s NoMad district, pays tribute to the worlds of art, music, fashion and media. We liked the bright rooms and convenient location for bopping around the city. Rooms have unique amenities like an old-timey gramophone that links to your smart phone and plenty of bed-side charging ports. While the design is boutique, the service is refined.  A member of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Lifestyle collection, The Redbury is home to Marta, a Roman-inspired pizzeria and Bar Marta, a sophisticated but welcoming lobby bar. GLAMP. YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO. Waking up to birds chirping is a heavenly way to start the day and spending the night in a tent is magical, but add a king bed dressed with high thread count linens and a super mod en suite bathroom, and camping just became glamping. Add Under Canvas Great Smoky Mountains to your Go List for 2019. Nestled among the moody foothills 20 minutes from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the compound will feature 75 canvas platform tents when they reopen for the season in April 2019. The lobby tent is decked out in West Elm furnishings and the chef at the Embers will cook up three squares from his menu of inventive local fare and campground favorites. Outside, there’s a big  fire pit where your new friends will gather for s’mores. Friendly staffers keep  the marshmallows, graham crackers and Hershey bars coming. While we have all flocked to 30a for spring break family shenanigans, the Emerald Coast feels more special and alluring during the slower months when you can actually get a shrimp basket without waiting with a throng of sunburned teens. We stayed at SeaBatical, a sweet rental home in the quiet beach community of Gulf Trace, just west of Grayton Beach off 30a. Sunburst Beach Vacations helped make the holiday seamless and the 4-bedroom, 4-bath home had an eat-in kitchen with a killer view of Alligator Lake and the dunes of Grayton Beach State Park. The heated pool, gas grill and cozy screened porch gave each of us a place to play. At the end of the street is 30a's 19-mile paved bike path (the Timpoochee Trail)

OW HARD COULD IT BE? I was joining Telluride Outside for a scenic snowmobile ride along groomed trails between the Wilson and Dolores mountain ranges to historic Dunton Hot Springs for a soak in ancient waters followed by a gourmet lunch. Well, two hours driving the snow machine, the roar of

the engine masking my heavy breathing, left me exhilarated and exhausted. By the time we pulled in to the remote Dunton Hot Springs property, an abandoned mining town turned Relais & Chateaux destination, my heart was pounding under the billowy snowsuit. I traded it for a giant fluffy robe and stomped through the snow to “the source,” the hottest of the three hot springs open for day visitors and overnight guests. I climbed gingerly down the slippery 4-foot wood ladder into the subterraneous tub of water naturally heated to 112 degrees by tectonic forces associated with the Triassic Dolores Formation. Lunch at the Saloon where Butch Cassidy stopped  will blow you away, sophisticated farm-to-table served family style. Beautiful and satisfying.  Telluride has a way of feeding your body and soul. BORN AND RAISED IN KANSAS CITY WITH A FASCINATION FOR ART, PATRICK LEWIS BEGAN EXPERIMENTING WITH CHARCOAL AND ACRYLICS ON PAPER AND CANVAS AT AN EARLY AGE, THROUGHOUT MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL. He excelled in formal classes, painting portraits and landscapes, only to “regrettably hit the pause button on art,” Lewis recalls, remembering the day he packed up for Vanderbilt and put away his passion for creating art to focus on an economics degree and the world of business. Lewis would graduate, move south to Atlanta, marry his college sweetheart Katie, earn an MBA, enjoy a highly successful corporate finance career, and welcome his first of two daughters into the world before reconnecting with his artful soul. 28
