I started at O&G PR in January 2000 (remember Y2K?) as an Account Executive, expecting to garner some agency experience and move on. Nearly 22 years later, I am proud to be COO of this thriving, successful firm that positively impacts so many local and national businesses. It hasn’t always been easy – from an economic downturn to a global pandemic – but I’ve been led by my strong work ethic and true passion for the industry. In PR, every day is different and we’re always learning something new. I believe that will keep me energized for the next two decades…and beyond. Who was your inspiration and role model? Growing up in Miami, I was an avid Dolphins fan and idolized Dan Marino. One of my prized possessions is a 1983 photo of Dan and me from a meet and greet event. Fast forward three decades, I had the great fortune of working closely with Dan opening numerous Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza restaurants across Florida
and the Northeast, including his hometown of Pittsburgh. (We handled the brand’s PR for 10 years and Dan was a long-time partner). Sometimes, meeting your heroes can be disappointing. That was not the case with Dan. He’s a gregarious and genuine guy who often made people’s day with a selfie and a quick hello. What is the one fact you would like our readers to know about you? I started my career as the crime beat reporter at the nowdefunct Boca Raton News (yes, there’s crime in Boca). I learned more the first week there than I had in four years of college. And, throughout my time at the paper, I honed so many skills I use to this day – interviewing, writing, editing, planning, and meeting deadlines. I also have an innate curiosity for business, often warning new and prospective clients I ask a lot of questions – but it’s a vital trait for any successful communications career.
