Have you heard of social prescribing?
It’s a means of being referred to local, nonclinical services that offer a more holistic approach to health and wellbeing. According to the NHS, social prescribing works for a wide range of people, including people with one or more long-term conditions; those who need support with their mental health; people who are lonely or isolated; and those who have complex social needs that affect their wellbeing. Schemes can involve a variety of activities – from sports and group learning, to volunteering and gardening.

How is Pilates beneficial? Pilates is the perfect balance of strength and flexibility. You will develop longer, leaner muscles that are strong through their entire range of movement making you less prone to injury. In class I spend a large amount of time correcting students. Its really important to perform each movement well to get the full benefits. I have had students comment on how their balance has improved very quickly and another favourite is how they ‘spring’ out of bed in the morning! Lauretta tested Davines’ Energizing Superactive Stimulating Serum for the Scalp & Fragile Thinning Hair, available from MIYU Boutique Salon in Petts Wood. She said: “You apply the serum to towel dried hair and massage in until it’s thoroughly absorbed. I preferred this than having to rinse the product out. The fresh, minty scent meant that it was pleasant to use and it didn’t feel greasy after use. Plus a little went a long way, which wins it extra brownie points. Also worth mentioning is that the product doesn’t contain any parabens and 98% of its ingredients are naturally derived from plants, so it’s a guilt-fee product for an affordable price.” Davines’ Energizing Superactive costs £20.90 for 100ml.
