Q: I’m starting a new business. Do I really need a business plan? A:
In its true sense a business plan is the comprehensive ‘design’ of your business and your plan for success and growth. But for many small businesses they simply don’t need something that complex unless they are trying to raise investment in some way. For most, a ‘plan on a page’ is more than enough – an idea of what the business is all about, what you want to achieve in the coming year and what you need to get there. You need a ‘plan’ to make sure you stay on track but in most cases, you won’t need the full plan.

Q: Is it a good idea to confiscate my teenager’s mobile until they’ve done some revision? We have such arguments about it! A:
As much as I value and understand the importance of mobile phones, the rate of use and when to use should be monitored by parents or guardians. Sometimes teenagers tend to make wrong decisions on the frequency of use and its priority. Hence, confiscation of phones may not be a bad idea, provided the teenager understands the reason behind it.

Q: Given the outbreak of the coronavirus, how do I make sure that I stay safe when travelling? A:
First and foremost, make sure you have adequate travel insurance – and that it covers you for any pre existing medical conditions and any ‘out of the ordinary’ activities you’re looking to do. Read the small print as you’d be surprised at what activities are not covered. Also, take out insurance at the time of booking not on the date of departure, which will cover you for cancellations. In terms of staying germ-free, we’d advise travellers carry an antibacterial gel with them – and use it intermittently throughout the day and certainly before mealtimes.

Q: I have heard a lot about the benefits of taking CBD oil. What exactly is it and why is it so popular? A:
CBD stands for cannabidiol one of the two main active components of cannabis the other is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). CBD has a wide range of medicinal properties, it does not have the mind-altering actions of THC, it is legal and now easily available. Although CBD is only currently officially prescribed for epilepsy, nausea from chemotherapy and muscle spasms in multiple sclerosis, many people are finding CBD very beneficial for easing anxiety, reducing pain, treating insomnia and improving mood. CBD can be taken as a paste or in capsules but is most effective as an oil dropped under the tongue. Care needs to be taken to buy a good quality CBD oil as some products do not contain the amount of CBD they claim. Two reputable online sources for CBD products are ‘The Original Alternative’ and ‘CannaMedica’.
