UNITY IN HUMILITY & DIVERSITY

W

e were so blessed with this year’s amazing God Touching the Nation outreach in April to all four corners of Namibia.

The Lord started small fires all over the country, the impact of which will be felt for years to come. We all agree that this time was exceptional with many supernatural signs. The team of over fifty who went to the regions from All Nations, came back excited and changed. Each team that went to the north, south, east, and west of our country, experienced operating in unity, humility, and diversity. This is just the start. We want to build on it.

Psalm 133:1 says

“How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron's beard, down upon the collar of his robes. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion.”

As with the kings and priests in the Old Testament who were anointed with oil, we are kings and priests unto God. Oil symbolizes the Holy Spirit’s anointing. Similarly, the dew flowing from Mt. Hermon blesses the land beneath it, including Jerusalem. Unity demonstrates that God’s Spirit is at work in His people, and it is contagious. As we all press into God’s presence together, we will be blessed with unity.

It is only in humility, preferring one another, that unity can be fully expressed. The apostles had to deal with an issue in Acts 6:1-2, and the Holy Spirit gave wisdom to keep the unity in diversity: “The number of disciples was increasing, and the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food”. The Holy Spirit led the leaders to deal speedily with the issue. We need to be very sensitive to the Spirit. Division could scuttle the amazing work of the Spirit, so we need to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bonds of peace. A reminder that one of our values is to strive to be a people with Kingdom culture, and we check our own culture in at the door. It is amazing to see that at All Nations we have an amazing diverse team which gives us enormous strength. We are not intimidated by our differences, but in humility, we acknowledge each other’s strengths and prefer one another. As we labour together in the fields and sow seed together, we will rejoice together. Jesus said in John 4:35-38, “…lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already ripe for harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows, and he who reaps may rejoice together.” Let us all continue to maintain the unity in humility, and diversity.
