Becoming a Man in 127 EASY Steps Irreverent and dynamic, graceful and playful, Becoming A Man In 127 EASY Steps engages the deep questions and the locker room jokes about what it means to “become” a man. Moving beyond the transgender narrative that focuses on the experience of transition, Scott Turner Schofield’s stories explore the drama and hilarity of living a new life in the “opposite” gender. The show’s “choose-your-own-adventure” format invites patrons to decide live which stories they will hear during each performance. Becoming a Man in 127 EASY Steps has toured the world for 10 years and is more relevant than ever for its depiction of transgender life before, during, and long after transition: “I changed my sex. Now what?!”

Scott Turner Schofield Named by OUT Magazine as a “trans influencer of Hollywood,” Schofield is a writer, performer and educator, creating theater about gender and sexuality. Schofield became the first openly transgender actor on daytime television, and one of very few female-to-male actors in mainstream media, as Nick on CBS’s The Bold and the Beautiful. Before his big television break, Schofield toured internationally with his original, solo theatre performances, including Underground Transit, Debutante Balls and Becoming a Man in 127 EASY Steps. As a solo performer, he has sold out the national theatres of France and Belgium, as well as Miami’s Carnival Center and a dozen major performance venues around the United States. Schofield has been honored with many distinctions and awards for his acting, among them a “Fruitie” audience choice award for Best Off-Broadway Performance, a Princess Grace Foundation Acting Fellowship, and a Creation Fund grant from the National Performance Network. He was considered for Daytime Emmy nominations in 2016 and 2017, and was the first transgender nominee for an Indie Series Award in 2017, in the same category as Emma Thompson. Recent projects include the recurring role of Liev in Pride: The Series on Amazon; starring in the acclaimed short film Transmute, written and directed by Star Victoria; and currently touring the film festival circuit. Schofield is also working on a filmed interpretation of Becoming a Man in 127 EASY Steps for release in 2018. Schofield uses his celebrity platform to build bridges of understanding about transgender people in the mainstream, though he served as an educator, consultant and spokesperson long before arriving in any spotlight. Considered one of his generation’s trailblazers in the movement for transgender liberation, Schofield uses a mix of storytelling and advocacy to create and change policies at educational institutions and corporations. His TED Talk, “Ending Gender,” is an acclaimed and globally-utilized tool for understanding gender diversity and is regularly screened by such organizations as the Pride Foundation, BP, and the British Council.
