STAY CONNECTED “Sending your son or daughter away to college can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Parent and Family Connections is your link to Liberty’s many support services designed to assist you while your student attends Liberty University. We are here to help you with the transition of leaving your son or daughter at Liberty while you are back at home.

THERESA D UNBAR DIRECTOR OF PARENT AND FAMILY CONNECTIONS

THOUGH YOUR CHILD HAS LEFT FOR COLLEGE, THEY WILL SURELY NOT LEAVE YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. STAYING CONNECTED IS CRUCIAL AND THE PARENT AND FAMILY CONNECTIONS OFFICE IS HERE TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN. Visiting your child during FAMILY WEEKEND is the perfect time to experience life with them on campus. Held early in the semester, this weekend is packed with university planned events including movie nights and a football game. Through the Parent and Family Connections office you can send your child care packages, submit prayer requests, join a parent association and receive important information through a bi-monthly e-newsletter.

Contact the Parent and Family Connections Office at (434) 582 – 2339 or email at PARENTS@LIBERTY.EDU. They are also on Facebook and Twitter for updates on news and events.

PRIORITY NO.1 “The Liberty University Police Department takes a strong and vigilant stand in providing for the safety and welfare of Liberty students, faculty, staff and visitors. The Police Department has many highly trained people, including support from local police, fire and rescue agencies who work hard to provide a safe and secure campus.” COLONEL R ICHARD D. H INKLEY CHIEF, L IBERTY UNIVERSITY POLICE

YOUR STUDENT’S SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY. THE LIBERTY UNIVERSITY POLICE DEPARTMENT (LUPD) and its officers have full law enforcement powers and responsibilities. Officers patrol campus around the clock to ensure the protection of students, faculty and visitors. The LUPD uses every available outlet for notification in case of an emergency. Announcement postings on all Liberty portal pages, radio notice and outdoor sirens are all utilized. Liberty’s EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM, free to Liberty University students, faculty and staff, will send a warning message in life-threatening situations to any type of communication device. Liberty resides in Lynchburg, Virginia, which was ranked THE NO. 7 SAFEST, mid-sized city in the U.S. by the Farmers Insurance Group (2009), and No. 28, best places for businesses and careers by Forbes (2011).

MONEY MATTERS “The job of our Financial Aid Office is to gather all of the information regarding your student’s eligibility, determine what they can receive, and bring it all together on one award letter. So, as you apply for financial aid through the FAFSA, and as Virginia Residents apply for the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant, the Liberty Financial Aid Office will begin to assemble the financial aid for your student.” DR . ROBERT L. R ITZ EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR , OFFICE OF F INANCIAL A ID

At Liberty, an excellent education for your student is within reach. Many of our students receive scholarships, loans and grants, and 95 percent of students receive financial aid. This package makes the cost of your child’s tuition, fees and room and board practical.

Filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid at www.fafsa.ed.gov for your student is the first step towards receiving FINANCIAL AID. (Liberty’s school code is 010392) Liberty’s Student Advocate Office teaches five classes on finding outside scholarships. Please visit WWW.LIBERTY.EDU/SAO for class availability. Additionally, over 25 institutional SCHOLARSHIPS are offered to residential undergraduate students. FEDERAL WORK STUDY, a federally funded program, awards students up to $4,000 per academic year as calculated by FAFSA. Your student can work part-time on or off-campus to help pay for their college education and gain practical experience.

EVERYBODY KNOWS YOUR NAME When a student moves onto Liberty’s campus, they are enveloped in community. The Office of Student Leadership strives to provide peer ministry to every student on campus. Your student will be loved, prayed for by name daily, prayed with weekly and given a chance to be personally discipled in their walk with Christ. Every residence hall has:

RESIDENT DIRECTORS to oversee the ministry and discipleship in the residence hall where they live. RESIDENT ASSISTANTS are chosen to lead the students in the residence hall. SPIRITUAL LIFE DIRECTORS lead spiritual life programs in the residence hall. PRAYER LEADERS are responsible for a prayer group of five students in their residence hall. PRAYER WARRIORS faithfully pray for the students on their residence hall floor.
