Assignment Brief Unit 6: Practical Skills Audio Assignment 1: Location Interview

Brief Information Project Title: Location Interview Date Issued: 28th September, 2009 Submission Date: 19th October, 2009 Result Date: November 2, 2009

Year 1 Mode of Assessment: Mini-disc recording and supporting written documentation Tutor: Orla Rapple Brief verified: 28th September, 2009

Assignment Outline Turn on any radio station and it won't be long before you hear an on-location interview. Being relied upon to 'go get the interview' using digital technology has proved invaluable to past students in gaining access to the industry. It takes a long time to become a great onlocation interviewer, but your skills will develop once the technology is mastered. When you're no longer worried about using the location kits properly, you can concentrate much more on the content of the actual interview.

Presentation Format The following presentation formats are recommended when submitting your essay for assessment: Mini-disc CHECKLIST of supporting documentation: -

Project Outline Record a 4'00” interview with a chosen interviewee. Working on your own, location recordings must be made using appropriate available technology. Each learner must choose an appropriate interviewee from outside the college and record a four minute interview (you can go over or under this time by 20 seconds) Each student hands up one minidisc with their recording clearly labelled and the name of the student and name of the interviewee identified.

You are assessed on the technical quality of the interview you record, for example: •sound
