The objective of the Plan of Platforms was to create an interactive classroom for the students at Caldwell Elementary. In efforts to re-create memories that shaped my childhood, I decided to base my classroom’s concept off of the Raumplan by Adolf Loos. I created multiple iterations of the designated space in order to achieve the most variety in height while complying to ADA regulations. By doing this, I successfully created an experience that provides various perspectives and is capable of hosting both group and individual learning spaces.

The mission of Aggie BBQ was to design a restaurant in the parking lot located next to Hurricane Harry’s in College Station, TX that provides entertainment for the community. I achieved this by designing an upstairs bar, gameroom, and an area for live preformances.
The Spa & Dance Studio was oriented towards preventative health and creating a family friendly environment. Because Dance studios tend to be high energy environments and spas tend to be tranquil, I decided to split the functions into seperate buildings for the best outcome. The main building consists of dance, yoga or pilates studios, childcare, a juice bar, and a sun room to let in more natural light to the interior of the building.
The second building, further back on the site, provides a more secluded experience for clients who wish to have a peaceful getaway. This building includes hot and cold plunge pools, an outdoor pool, a meditation space, and both, single and couple massage rooms. Between these two buildings is an outdoor patio area and a garden for a scenic nature experience.
For our integrated studio, which acknowledges both the make up of systems and structures within a building, we were assigned to create a center of hospitality that reflects the values of a generous donor to Texas A&M University. This was to be designed in teams of four, within the boundaries of Lot 61 on West Campus and include a 3 star hotel and classrooms for hospitality management majors using mass timber. Our team’s goal was to make every guest feel like they are the most important
guest staying there. For this reason, we staggered every hotel room to have its own view of Kyle Field. By doing this, we also created privacy between the balcony areas and a building that is capable of shading itself. We looked at the ACROS Center by Emilio Ambasz and the Education Esbjerg by Bjarke Ingles Group for inspiration. My role within our team included unit design, drafting, editorial cosmetics, detailing, and assisting anywhere else I was needed.
The first two floors of the hotel and school are designed for maximum convienience for guests staying on the property. The Hotel has strategically placed its seminar and meeting rooms on the second floor next to the bridge connecting to the school, which contains auditoriums that will host conferences for the guests. It also includes a restaurant. The first floor includes a cafe and convenience store. Indoor and outdoor balconies have been placed throughout the eight floors to re-create our architectural precedents’ concept of making indoor spaces feel like the outdoors.
Because our hallways have a single load, we created extra balcony spaces above the restaurant, facing Kyle field, and along the hallways. We intend these to be rented out for additional revenue on game days for tailgating, or anything else the hotel guests wish to reserve the spaces for.
The hotel places all its mechanical spaces in a stacked central area by the elevators for the AHU system to line up easily. We found through the integration of both structures and systems that moving the lateral bracing outside of the building opened opportunities for us to run the systems diagonally in the ceiling space above the guest rooms.
I created the following interior renders for the Bellville Methodist Church’s renovation project using SketchUp to model and V-Ray to render. These were used to give the client an idea of what the millwork, walls, doors, and trim finishes will look like.
Another project I had the opportunity of working on was the Main Street Pet Resort. I created multiple floor plan iterations of possible designs that included indoor and outdoor play yards. These were then taken to our client to identify what they prefer about each. My boss and I collaborated for the final outcome based on the client’s feedback.
During my internship at Upchurch Architects, I was given the opportunity to work on many different renovation projects, both residetial and commercial. I gained valuable site visit experience that allowed me to develop accurate as built plans to modify for demoliton and renovation. I did this for the Betts Lake House along with looking over site pictures and drafting elevations.
For Wehring Wealth Management, we conducted a site visit to record dimensions on their existing building that has undergone past renovations. We drafted floor plans and elevations for what exists, then re-programmed spaces within the office to form a renovation plan.
