Installation of the probe The probe is installed on the level of a wheel or at exit of limps of transfer of the back bridge. 

inductive probe “3 wire” recommended by OutBack Import and delivered with OutBackTrip

This type of probe is recommended for its solidity and its features. The inductive probe “3 wire” assembles same manner as a standard probe “2 wire” knowing that the distance from detection is extended from 0,5 mm to 4 mm.. To check that the indicator of the probe ignites at the time of the passage of a head of screw in front of the probe. Connection in OutBackTrip

For that, to connect the probe normally on entered probe 1, then to carry out a bridge enters the entry signal of probe 1 and the entry signal of probe 2 Example of assembly at exit of gear box transfer on the brace : As far as possible, it is preferable to obtain 4 impulses per turn of driveshaft; to place the probe in order to detect the passage of the fastening screws of the brace (coupling limps of transfer). A small metal plate bored to 13 mm allows the assembly of the body of the probe. The probe must be aligned in the 4 vis de fixation center bolts and the surface of detection must be quite parallel to the jeu de 0,5 mm min. à 4 mm max. surface of the heads of bolt with a distance of about 0,5 mm to 4 mm to optimize detection, the notches or other marks being on the heads of bolt should be filed by making sure that the heights of the heads of bolt are the same ones; to withdraw dirtiness, rust and accumulations of grease of the interior surface of disc unit. Screw the probe until so that it touches the head d' one of the bolts then to unscrew from 2 to 3 turns. Check that the distance lies between 0.5 mm and 4 mm by using the indication of the indicator on the probe to control operation and positioning. To tighten the counter-nut according to a stall torque of 5 ft lbs (a point of adhesive on the nuts makes it possible to block them). To bring the cable of the probe until the black box. on the level of a wheel : The probe is positioned in order to detect the heads of bolt which retain the disc of brake on the hub of a trailed wheel. In certain cases, it is more practical to look at the holes in metal surface. RECOMMENDATIONS 1. the head of bolt must be out of metal, it does not matter the type. 2. the round-headed bolts are not adapted for a good detection 3. the surface of the heads of bolt must correspond at least to 80% of the surface of detection of the probe 

Connection OutBackTrip ignites as of the connection of the food of OutBackTrip into 12 Vcc, or pressing on the key MENU initialization approximately 1 second - and posts the values of the meters TOTAL and PARTIAL. At the time of its startup, the meters are initialized to 0 and OutBackTrip must be parameterized and calibrated. Thereafter all the options and measurements will be preserved and reloaded at the time of the fixture branch. The Councils for wiring: We advise you not to bring closer wire connected to OutBackTrip close to source of heat or source of electric parasites such as CB, black box of starting, engine… Connection of the restoring external - Remote control of restoring If you wish to place a restoring additional, you can connect a pushbutton between the wire of restoring and masses it. This accessory is sold in option, to contact your retailer.

FAST USE The 4 keys give access to the functionalities of OutBackTrip and the menus of parameter setting. The correspondences of the buttons of OutBackTrip are organized such as definite below. To start or stop OutBackTrip, press on the key MENU more than 1 seconds. I.e. that : 4. the button `RAZ' of your OutBackTrip has a second function which is indicated to the top on the screen. In our example, the key `RAZ' becomes `Fct' i.e. `Fonctions'. Thus if you press on the key `RAZ', you enter the menu `Fonctions'. 5. the button `MEM' of your OutBackTrip becomes the button `Par', i.e. the menu `Paramétrage'. 6. the button `ıı +/-”  of your OutBackTrip becomes the button `Opt', i.e. the menu `Options' 7. the button `MENU' of your OutBackTrip becomes the button `↑ ', i.e. the exit of the menus. It is very important to understand this operation well because it will be necessary to have assimilated it well to use all the functions available.

Calibration of OutBackTrip At the time of its startup, OutBackTrip must be calibrated at a measured distance. In fact, OutBackTrip measures the distances in units and its calibration consists in determining the pulse repetition frequency which corresponds to a unit (optimal between 4 and 10 impulses). Thus it can be compatible with all the measuring units (meter, yard…). This calibration can be done to measure the 10,100 or 1000 or MANUAL units while knowing that the measuring accuracy of OutBackTrip is proportional to the selected number of units and the pulse repetition frequency per turn of wheel (attention not to saturate the calculator beyond 10 impulses per unit). Note: the dimension and the wear of the tires vary considerably the precision of OutBackTrip, also it is advised periodically to carry out its calibration to preserve a maximum of precision.

Put you to roll if it is not the case. (the key ıı + = ↑ to leave the menu)

7/ when the reference mark in connection with the number of units to be measured is reached (10 meters in our example), use the key RAZ (STOP) to validate the pulse repetition frequency recorded, the key MENU to give up measurement and to reconsider item 6.

CAUTION The pulse repetition frequency recorded must be higher than the number of units to measure, if it is not the case, to check the assembly of the probe and to start again the calibration. An error of calibration will be posted with the screen. RECOMMENDATIONS The minimum of impulses per unit is of 1, but makes of them 4 to 10 impulses per unit are necessary for an optimal precision. Moreover, in on this side 4 impulses per unit the calculator makes round-offs to the measure of the units, which distorts posted speed and justifies the posting of the units on the level of the meters TOTAL and PARTIAL in a noncontinuous way.
