Dear Community Member, For more than a millennia, the enigmatic and powerful jaguar has served as a potent cultural icon of the New World. Today, Jaguars remain an important symbol in art, expression, and religion. However, there is a growing conflict between those that would honor the jaguar for its cultural and ecological significance with those that continue to cause its decline.* This year, the Chattanooga Zoo is proud to announce this fascinating feline will be the benefactor of the annual Banana Ball proceeds, and we need your help. Through your donations, we will be able to not only transport two jaguars from the forests of Argentina to the Chattanooga Zoo, we will also be able to update our 10year old jaguar habitat. In honor of the artistic and cultural significance of this transfer, we are asking Community Members to “Answer the Call of the Wild” with donations of creative and unique items for our auction – such as art, musical performances, catering offers, traveling opportunities, professional services and other nontraditional entries. If you choose to sponsor the auction this year (the value must be at least $150), you will receive recognition on the sponsor card and our scrolling sponsor display as well as two tickets to the Banana Ball! In addition, you will also have become a direct participant in the conservation of one of the most threatened big cats on the planet today. To be a part of this great fundraising opportunity, simply fill out the donation form and fax it to (423) 6971329. If you would like to mail your form, it can be sent to: Chattanooga Zoo: Attention Katie Smith 1101 McCallie Avenue Chattanooga, TN 37404 If you have any questions, please call Katie Smith at (423) 6971339.
