(Mark that apply.) We used thisschool? question to all determine whether or not a respondent was out as transgender or was openly expressing gender nonconforming appearance or behavior at school. If the respondent indicated “no” but still answered question 39, we excluded their answers.

When it came time to analyze the data, we realized that we could not distinguish whether respondents were self-reporting a transgender identity at school, or whether they were gender non-conforming, regardless of their identity today. Furthermore, it is possible that some answered “yes” even though they were not out or expressing any gender non-conformity at all. While some nuances Elementary ‰ ‰ ‰ ‰ ‰ ‰discrimination ‰ ‰ respondents ‰ ‰ An untested were lost, these school data nonetheless provided valuable information about school-based our faced.
