SPECIAL

EDITION! SEPTEMBER 2020

FIRST PRIORITY MIRACLE CHALLENGE his is a Special Edition of 360 Spotlight. The past six months have been hard for Light for the Lost due to a downturn in missions giving. Also, many missionaries overseas and stateside need our help; but we don’t see a way to assist them all.

T

Without your help, the number of missionaries we assist this year (and therefore the number of souls reached) will be diminished. While some ministries try to simply ride out the storm, we at LFTL ab-

Isaiah 61:1 (NIV)

solutely refuse to stray from the Great Commission or slow down! We need your help. LFTL needs a $2 million miracle in the next four months in order to maintain our FIRST PRIORITY to reach people for Christ. But we trust God, and we know you’ll stand with us. We invite you to join us and be part of the “First Priority Miracle Challenge.” While we could suggest a contribution amount, we would rather that you pray and ask the One who spoke the Great

Commission to speak to you. As you do so, and as you prepare to give, please see the next four pages for powerful reminders of why LFTL and your ministry of giving are important. Isaiah 61:1 will be our theme the remainder of 2020. Thank you for standing with us and being part of our “First Priority Miracle Challenge” to see $2 million raised to resource our missionaries by the end of this year. Rick Allen National Director Men’s Ministries/LFTL

“The Spirit of the sovereign Lord is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim Good News to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.”

MOZAMBIQUE Isaiah 61:1 (NIV)

“The Spirit of the sovereign Lord is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to

proclaim Good News to the poor.”

M

ozambique is one of the poorest countries on earth. Most of its people live in rural villages. The national church has a goal to plant a new church within walking distance of every person!

AG missionaries Toby and Melinda Magill are heavily involved in this initiative and received LFTL funds to distribute two colorful booklets to 8,000 children in Mozambique.

Kids like these will receive the Bible stories printed with LFTL funds. LFTL has many requests for evangelism tools in poor nations like Mozambique. The people of these countries are so responsive to the gospel! They just need a chance to hear or read it!

Bible stories printed with LFTL funds in Mozambique. The booklets are in the local language of Portuguese and tell the stories of David and Goliath and Noah’s Ark. “We believe God will use these incredible books to touch the lives of many children and [their parents],” Melinda says. “Each book tells the biblical story, and also teaches about prayer and spending time with God. The steps to Salvation are also in the books.”

The Magills will distribute Bible booklets in villages like this one. Our “First Priority Miracle Challenge” is about reaching THEM for Christ. Thank you once again for praying and giving so that LFTL can maintain our focus on world evangelism.

UNITED STATES “He has sent me to bind

up the brokenhearted…”

J

ordan and Jacob, young brothers living in the rural Ocala National Forest in Florida, watched as a strange man shot their mother in the head, killing her instantly.

The church Jordan and Jacob attend uses LFTL funds to provide free Bibles for kids.

Jordan and Jacob witnessed the murder of their mother. The boys were deeply scarred and broken after what they’d witnessed. Their entire world died with their mother. U.S. missionaries David and Tammy Houck helped introduce them to Jesus in a safe, peaceful church environment. Over time, Jesus “bound up” the wounds of Jordan’s and Jacob’s hearts and began a miraculous work in them.

Today, these boys love Jesus, have started new lives, and are being discipled in Salt Life Church. LFTL funds are used in the church to provide Bibles and evangelism pieces that introduce hundreds of children like Jordan and Jacob to their special friend, Jesus. With horrible trauma crushing the lives of so many children nationwide—as family structures continue to break down—LFTL and AG U.S. missionaries are deeply burdened to reach them with the gospel. Your contributions toward the “First Priority Miracle Challenge” will go a long way to help. Please pray for the “brokenhearted” of our nation as you give. America needs Jesus.

INDIA “…to proclaim

freedom for the captives…”

The gospel broadcast into a brothel! Trafficked women watch a Hindi language church service.

T

he photos above were taken inside a brothel in India. It shows trafficked women watching a recorded church service in their mother tongue of Hindi on a cell phone.

After watching it repeatedly, the woman holding the phone memorized the sermon and worship songs! She is also part of a Bible study held in the brothel where she is forced to work: a slave to evil men. LFTL funds placed that device, and the gospel, in her hands! We want to do that in EVERY brothel in India. Today, we need a miracle to “proclaim freedom for the captives” all over India.

COVID-19 forced most of India’s brothels to close, forcing the women out because they can no longer earn money. This mass exodus resulted in many thousands of evangelism opportunities. We are working to connect these precious women with churches and people who can help so they won’t ever return to the brothels. Tens of millions of such captives worldwide need to hear about freedom through Christ! We need your help to “proclaim freedom for the captives!” The “First Priority Miracle Challenge” is before us. How will we respond?

MUSLIM NATIONS “…and release

from darkness for the prisoners.”

M

ore than 1.3 billion people live in the oppressive spiritual darkness of Islam. But millions are responding to the true gospel! Since 2016, LFTL has funded evangelism resources for secret underground churches call “Upper Rooms” located in dozens of Muslim countries.

These “Upper Rooms” are hyper-evangelistic. Every Upper Room believer publicly confesses Christ, is water baptized, and shares Christ with others. As a result, the number of Upper Rooms in Muslim countries has exploded into the tens of thousands! One man (whose name and location we must keep secret) was a radical terrorist. But Jesus appeared to him in a dream

and said, “I am the one true God! Follow me.” The man’s conversion was immediate, powerful and radical! Before, he spray-painted Islamic slogans on buildings at night. Now he paints Bible verses about Jesus as the Savior. If caught, he could be killed outright. When asked why he does this, he said: “I did it for [my terrorist group]. Why wouldn’t I do it for Jesus?” People like this man are radical for Christ, and we want to keep providing Bibles, evangelism pieces, and ministry helps for Upper Rooms. Please help us keep evangelism in the Muslim world a First Priority! Help us deliver “…release from the prisoners in darkness.”

Muslims are coming to Christ in massive numbers! With your help, LFTL can resource tens of thousands of new “Upper Rooms” in Muslim nations with evangelism tools.

FIRST PRIORITY MIRACLE CHALLENGE What inspired this name? One, evangelism is the church’s First Priority; two, it’s going to take a miracle to see $2 million raised. So thank you for embracing the “First Priority Miracle Challenge” and giving the best gifts you can by the end of this year!
