he fall schedule is in full swing and numerous Light for the Lost tours and Men’s retreats are starting, happening, or have just completed and I couldn’t be more excited about the future of LFTL and Men’s Ministries. Please check the events calendar at lftl.ag.org or men.ag.org to see if there

is a LFTL or Men’s event near you.            In this issue of 360 Spotlight we highlight our missions partnership with Global University. Did you know more than 2.6 million salvations have been recorded by Global’s ministry? LFTL has been a huge part of it by providing print resources and special technologies.

For Men’s Ministries, we focus on our daily devotional and Discipleship Resources, which are available to you 24/7, totally FREE of charge. Yes. It’s all FREE!            With more than 28,000 downloads thus far, it is our hope that you will help us spread the word about these discipleship lessons and make it possible to reach 50,000 total lesson downloads in the next two years.             As always, we pray for you and appreciate your support of LFTL and Men’s Ministries. May God bless you and your church this fall! Rick Allen National Director Men’s Ministries/LFTL

“WE LOST OUR HOUSE, BUT SAVED OUR KINDLES.”

W

hen the storm of the century hit, with only seconds to react, Cuban pastors Idelkis and Susan Ortiz saved the Global University evangelism resources provided by LFTL.

The Kindles were worth saving because they contained evangelism materials the Ortizes used every day to study the Word and share Christ in their church.

As Hurricane Matthew bore down on Cuba in October 2016, Idelkis and Susan had almost no time to react when the sirens started blaring. They grabbed their six-year-old son, two other items, and sprinted to a shelter.

After the hurricane. Here, they’re holding the Kindles!

Idelkis and Susan’s home/church before the hurricane. The next morning Idelkis and Susan found the house (which also doubled as their church) totally destroyed. Nothing was left. Remember, they did save two items. But what? What was more important than extra clothes or emergency money? The answer: Global University Kindles. “We lost our home, but we saved our Kindles,” Idelkis said.

More than 4,500 Kindles were sent to Cuban pastors from American churches, and LFTL funds placed Global University evangelism resources on each one! Think of it. When the storm of the century hit, with only seconds to decide what to save, Idelkis and Susan chose to save the evangelism resources LFTL helped provide. Today, the home/church is rebuilt and their ministry continues! This story is the perfect example of how LFTL funds help share the gospel in difficult places using special technologies. Thank you for making miracles like this possible through your giving.

EVANGELISM AMONG IRANIAN SEEKERS, REFUGEES

O

ver the years, one of the things I’ve researched thoroughly to verify, and found to be absolutely true, is how Iranians are coming to Christ in great numbers. Iranians are intensely seeking out copies of the gospel in their language of Farsi. Light for the Lost funds provide tens of thousands of these seekers with a Global University evangelism course in Farsi each year.

time, Vanya had completed more than 20 GU evangelism/discipleship courses. I realized that Vanya was probably the youngest active GU student on earth so I quickly shot a picture of her with the evangelism resources she used.

Let me introduce you to one of my favorite Iranian evangelists. Her name is Vanya. When I met her two years ago she was 12 years old. I was in a country very close to Iran where I had the privilege of preaching in the house church where Vanya and her family worshipped.

Vanya taking a Global University exam (at 12 years old). Later, Vanya’s parents sent me a photo of her taking a GU exam (she passed, by the way). This young lady is serious about studying, following Jesus, and sharing her faith.

Twelve-year-old Iranian believer Vanya uses these resources to study and share her faith. Vanya’s family were refugees fleeing intense persecution in Iran. She was eager to show me the Global University courses she used to learn more about Jesus, and also tell others kids about Him. At that

Your support of LFTL makes it possible for us to provide these GU evangelism resources in the Farsi language. Thank you! Dan Kersten is Director of Communications and Development for LFTL and Men’s Ministries. He was a ‘missions journalist’ from 2004 to 2018, during which time he wrote and directed LFTL’s Celebrate the Light. Email Dan at dkersten@ag.org or call 417.862.2781 ext. 4174. He would love to hear from you.

marriage and family issues, the 16 Fundamental Truths, the Holy Spirit, sexuality, and personal accountability. Thirteen of the series (54 lessons) are also offered in Spanish. In the two years since these resources were launched, there have been more than 28,000 individual lesson downloads! That averages to about 36 per day. I see two very big reasons for this success. One, men are hungry for the Word of God and want to connect with other men in discipleship opportunities. These resources are helping to meet men’s significant felt needs. Two, we decided early on we would offer these resources for FREE rather than sell them. It would be incredible if, by this time two years from now, we surpass 50,000 Discipleship Resource downloads.

Please consider doing the following to help us reach this goal: Go to men. ag.org/home#resources and take a look at the lesson series available under Identity, Relationships, Purpose, and Vision. Choose a lesson you’d like to study or share, and download it. Then, share this information with your pastor, Sunday School teachers in your church, men’s leaders, etc. All Men’s Ministries Discipleship Resources are excellent for small groups, sermon preparation, and personal study. As you partner with us by sharing this information, you can make a strong contribution to your church’s ministry. Together we can help men become discipled and missional. Dr. Jimmy White is director of discipleship for Men’s Ministries. You can email Jimmy at jdwhite@ag.org or call him at 417.862.2781 ext. 4171
