Light for the Lost provides evangelistic resources for missionaries and missionary partners through five platforms: print, audio, video, internet, and technologies.
LIGHT FOR AN INCREASINGLY REDEEMED AFRICA!
he following has been said many times about Africa: On any given day, there is more human suffering and spiritual darkness in Africa than anywhere else on earth. But there’s also more revival!
More than 22 million believers worship in African Assemblies of God churches. Africa can be described as an “increasingly redeemed” continent. That’s awesome, and I’m so thrilled Light for the Lost gets to be part of it.
We partner with our missionaries in Africa to see the gospel advanced using five platforms: print, audio, video, internet, and technologies. In this issue of 360 Spotlight, you will see just a few examples of how your prayer and financial support make an impact on the increasingly redeemed continent of Africa. OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH AFRICA’S HOPE.
FTL partners with Africa’s Hope to help resource missionaries, African pastors, and families in the churches with critically-needed evangelistic materials.
Here are two examples. First, we help translate Living the Truth, a seven-year congregational discipleship curriculum,
into 15 languages so it can be used by African believers as they minister in their communities. Also, we partner with Africa’s Hope to establish Print-on-Demand (POD) distribution centers in strategic locations. These amazing print systems enable national churches to locally print evangelistic materials at a lower cost. The first POD center in South Africa was just installed. Another is headed to Cameroon where missionaries Ben and Michelle Dunlap are thrilled about the evangelism potential. “The POD system is perfect for Cameroon,” Ben Dunlap says. “We’ll be able to serve Congo, Gabon, and Equatorial Guinea. We’ll be able to do all the printing ourselves now.”
Living the Truth books help believers learn about evangelism.
The Print-On-Demand system in South Africa.
Four more countries are expected to set up POD distribution centers within the next six months. Thank you for helping us make such a difference in Africa!
An Idol Worshipper Becomes An Evangelist!
met Pastor Jean-Baptiste in a place called Bilanga, on the edge of the Saharan Desert in Burkina Faso. His story is powerful, and Light for the Lost now plays a role in his ministry. Years ago, Jean-Baptiste created his own god. He dug a well with his own hands and gave a name to “the god of the well.” He prayed every day to this god to protect him from sickness and evil. But one day, Jean-Baptiste became deathly ill. He lay in his hut with high fever and felt his life slipping away. As he slept Jean-Baptiste heard a name in his mind: Jesus. He woke up. The fever and pain were gone. He was healed! A man stood over Jean-Baptiste, praying in the name of Jesus.
“These tools are helping me learn the words of Jesus to go to every place and preach,” Jean-Baptiste said. “Out here many villages have no knowledge of Jesus. They worship demons. God wants me to go preach in these villages.”
Jean-Baptiste telling us his story. As you read this, Jean-Baptiste is evangelizing in rural villages using tools provided with LFTL funds! Thank you for helping resource people like him. All over Africa, things like this are happening. Yes, Africa faces many serious hardships, but it also boasts the most robust church growth on earth!
Jean-Baptiste and his family. It was an evangelist who had come to share the gospel in the village. Jean-Baptiste was the first person there to believe in Jesus. When I met Jean-Baptiste, he was studying evangelism ministry with materials provided by Light for the Lost funds. I asked how they were helping him.

“THIS BROUGHT LIGHT INTO MY DARK WORLD.”
n 1977, John Karanja was walking through a tea field in Kenya when someone approached him and handed him a Light for the Lost-funded evangelism course titled, “The Great Questions of Life” (GQL). John read it and realized he had no answers to such questions. He sat down in the tea field and committed his life to Christ. John later entered the ministry and led people to Jesus for more than 30 years!
“This brought light into my dark world,” John told us while showing us the copy of GQL he’d received back in 1977. “I found the light of Jesus Christ through this literature.” Someone like YOU gave an offering back in 1977, so that evangelism piece could be printed!
