PUTTING HANDS TO THE PLOW

Words

FROM RICK

W

hile the political, economic, and social structures of the world are in their usual state of chaos, the Lord Jesus Christ is building His kingdom despite it all! With that in mind, the national Light for the Lost and Men’s Ministries team intend to press on in our missional goals. We have both hands on the plow and we’re not look-

ing back! Will you place your hands on the plow with us? In Luke 9:62, Jesus states, “No one who puts his hands to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” (ESV) We are often tempted to look back and allow the successes, failures, pains, events, and circumstances of the past dictate the course of our future. But

our God works in the NOW. And He’s busy. Light for the Lost and Men’s Ministries, as you’ll see, have both hands on the plow and we’re moving forward aggressively this year to accomplish the mission of God. We will resource missionaries with evangelism tools like never before, and we’ll reach and disciple men for Christ like never before. But we must partner with Jesus and work! The more hands we have on the plow, the better. Join us! Your support and partnership make the work light. We are grateful for you and thrilled that we can help build God’s kingdom on earth alongside you. Rick Allen National Director Men’s Ministries/LFTL

DESPITE TRAGEDIES, ALL SMILES IN VANUATU

Pastors Fano and Helen (right) and several believers in front of a church destroyed by cyclone Harold last year.

A

bove is a peculiar photo. Life on a tropical island is already challenging. But when a cyclone destroys your village, and then COVID-19 cuts off critical supply lines, what is there to smile about?

Yet these people ARE smiling.

Ni Vanuatu believers with evangelism books provided by missionary Alecia Webb with LFTL funds.

LFTL tools were used to share the gospel on six remote islands of Vanuatu.

The reason why is written in the bedrock of faith found in the heart of every true believer. They’re smiling because they know the kingdom Jesus is building on

Missionaries Alecia Webb and Sam Paris and his family serve in Vanuatu. LFTL funds assist them in their ministries. their island can NEVER be destroyed! The above photo shows Ni Vanuatu believers in Sunat, Vanuatu (South Pacific). On the right is pastor Fano and his wife Helen. They planted a church in this village and won these villagers to the Lord. Last year, cyclone Harold destroyed their village and church. Next came COVID-19, which cut off supply lines from the outside world. But the building of God’s kingdom on this island chain of former cannibals continued despite it all. Our missionaries (Alecia Webb, and Sam and Lisa Paris) report that LFTL funds provided evangelism tools local pastors and missionaries used for evangelism in remote villages. Among the evangelists were Pastor Fano and Helen. Your investment in LFTL through missionary Alecia Webb

made it possible for the gospel to reach the islands of Espiritu Santo, Ambae, Malekula, Abrym, Pentecost, and Banks. A total of 234 Ni Vanuatu people were born again, and 222 received the baptism in the Holy Spirit! All this happened during 2020, a year of pandemic-induced isolation and a catastrophic cyclone! So, there is lots to smile about in Vanuatu. Believers there know it. Jesus is building His kingdom through them, and LFTL is making a big difference. Thank you for placing your “hands to the plow” with us in Vanuatu and resourcing missionaries Alecia Webb and the Paris family for their work. Dan Kersten is Director of Communications and Development for LFTL and Men’s Ministries. He was a ‘missions journalist’ from 2004 to 2018. Email Dan at dkersten@ag.org or call 417.862.2781 ext. 4174. He would love to hear from you.

JOIN A GROWING MOVEMENT OF 360MEN!

H

undreds of men across the nation realize how important it is for them to reach and invest in other men in their churches and communities. So they’ve become 360MEN! Will you do the same?

Every 360Man who signs up, and invests $10 per month (or $120 per year) becomes part of a national movement of Christ-following men resourcing local and national men’s ministries. It’s time we worked together to help more men find Christ, learn how to follow Him, and become fully engaged in a Spirit-filled church like the early believers in Acts 2:42-47.

Go to www.360man.ag.org, or scan the QR code with your mobile device camera, to sign up. It only takes a few moments, and $10 per month, but the investment will impact thousands of men for years to come. Every 360Man receives a 360Man Challenge Coin to remind him of his commitment to Christ and to pray daily for other men.
