EVANGELISM IN ASIA PACIFIC; BIG NEWS FROM MEN’S MINISTRIES!

Words

FROM RICK

I

n this 360 Spotlight we want to highlight a region of the world where spiritual warfare is raging: Asia Pacific. The battle is real, and the souls of hundreds of millions are in the balance. However, “greater is He that is within us than he that is in the world.”

Light for the Lost provides evangelistic resources for missionaries and missionary partners across the islands, jungles, and sprawling cityscapes of Asia Pacific, where the largest Muslim populations and the majority of the world’s Buddhists are found.

This month’s Men’s Ministries section contains exciting news about Journey Through John, a new digital book study produced by Men’s Ministries. This resource is now available for purchase online and I highly recommend it for personal, family, small group, or Sunday School study. Thank you so much for all the ways you partner with us in missions and ministry. We hope you enjoy this issue of 360 Spotlight! Rick Allen National Director MM/LFTL

MONK: “YES, THERE IS HOPE.”

I

n 2014, I sat in a Buddhist temple in Myanmar and spoke at length with a monk named Kajimika. Over the span of 45 minutes, Kajimika told me his story. His life had been wasted on the pursuit of pleasure. He was remorseful of the evil he’d done. So he entered the monkhood hoping to find peace and the “right path” to enlightenment, the highest spiritual state he believed possible.

for Christ: “It will take time, and the right resources, but it’s possible.” Unfortunately, I could not stay, or leave him any books to study. My visit was very brief. But OTHERS can!

The Buddhist temple I visited in Myanmar. LFTL resources are used everywhere in Asia Pacific to reach Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and animists. Kajimika, Buddhist monk. I then shared my story and also the story of Christ. Afterwards, I asked Kajimika if there was any hope he would ever place his trust and faith in Jesus Christ. Kajimika nodded his head, yes. “Yes, there is hope. But you must first do this,” he said, pointing his finger at me. “You must come here every day, bring books, bring things to read and study. And you must answer all my questions about your Jesus. Because I will have many.” Kajimika was telling me how to win him

Please pray for Kajimika, and millions like him. Pray they find the true path to eternal peace and fulfillment: Jesus Christ. On the enclosed form, there is an option to designate an offering to the “Featured Project.” Gifts marked with this designation will be used in Asia Pacific. Thank you! EVANGELISM IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA!

E

ight million people live in the South Pacific island nation of Papua New Guinea (PNG). The common language used among the 800 tribal groups is Tok Pisin (talk Pidgin), an “English jargon” language. With LFTL funds, thousands of Tok Pisin evangelism tracts have been distributed in hundreds of villages in PNG. For those who cannot read, beautiful illustrations and pictures visually communicate the gospel. Also, Bible school students, Teen Challenge workers, and youth groups have received New Testaments thanks to LFTL donors like you.

Special thanks to Assemblies of God missionary Phil Rojak for providing this photo.

REACHING THE “NEVER REACHED.”

L

FTL funds enabled missionaries in a closed country of Asia Pacific to translate and print comic-style booklets that visually depict the gospel in colorful illustrations.

“We cannot give out Bibles because [this] is a closed country,” says one of our missionaries, who requested anonymity. “These books make it possible for us to share the Message here.

This unique evangelism tool is especially ideal for children and those who cannot read well. In addition, it has opened doors among two people groups in that country.

“It is such a blessing and encouragement to know that LFTL continues to stand and partner with us in sharing the love of Christ with the never reached.”
