Serving
LEXINGTON by Cathy Ayre
Unsung heroes are those people you see every day, helping others. Often with a smile or an ease that seems like magic, they are everywhere if you just look a little deeper. In Lexington, there are at least three gentlemen who fit the bill: Chris Williams, Jeff Taylor and Larry Hyder. Read on to see how their version of every day can bring a little magic into yours.
Chris Williams | Roy’s Grille Chef and business owner Chris Williams is passionate about food and cooking. He owns Roy’s Grille, located inside an unusual place — the Exxon gas station across from Lexington’s main post office. “I didn’t choose my profession. It chose me,” he says. Williams is self-taught, as chefs from generations ago used to be. He learned his craft working restaurants, as a nutritionist for a child development center, and from state government. Onthe-job training and training with several local chefs have made Chris Williams who he is today. Williams learned the meaning of hard work from his grandfather, whom the eatery is named for. He is a firm believer that life is what you make
