Eclectic is the name of the game, have a niche but be ready to handle other things that come your way just in case the right opportunity presents itself. Having a variety of capabilities and styles makes you better able to serve a broader range of clients.

Project Description The task was to create an entire branding package for a film festival about John Ford’s westerns. Project Concept/Design Goals Many of John Ford’s movies were filmed within a specific geographic location so Monument Valley became the starting point for this brand. The audience for this film festival was a mostly male middle aged group that would enjoy the opportunity to see Ford’s film on a big screen. The overriding theme was that of a rugged, screen printed, slightly offset registration for the text and the illustrations. Project Description For this project I was tasked to find a brand that has fallen on hard times or no longer is used and then re-imagine that brand. Project Concept/Design Goals I envisioned the new Pan Am to be a travel company and destination resort for those souls wanting to explore the cultures of the world. I started with the core logo after extensive research on the company which included an analysis of competition in the new areas chosen. From there I drafted standards manual a website and two possible extensions for the brand. American Grit BOOK Project Description For this project I was asked to create a picture book with images and text that relate to one another in some way.

Project Concept/Design Goals My solution to one of my favorite typographic challenges was to combine the imagery of Andrew Wyeth with the poetry of Gary Snyder. Since both were Americans and both have been considered edgy (gritty) in their day, I chose American Grit as the title. The most challenging process find works from each that would work together in the layout. In the end the book draws you in with each turn of the page. Typographic Experiments Project Description Type experiments was a wonderful opportunity to create a phrase in text that was as visual as it was literal. Project Concept / Design Goals The first set of images in this series were about creating a visual way to show a phrase both literally and visually. The next group was a poster series about phrases that included the word green. Part of the process was creation of a container to hold the final posters. Safe Ride Project Description Not enough people wear helmets when riding horses and so I researched and began creating a marketing program to increase awareness. Project Concept / Design Goals My MFA thesis is founded on the goal of trying to convince more people to wear helmets. The hope is that if we can alleviate some of the stigma of helmets and we make them more accessible, then more people will wear them. The project included a process book.
