the brief - you are required for this project to develop and produce ONE fully refined, final product that reuses household packaging or everyday waste materials
the skecthing process allowed me to explore my ideas in a variety of forms and a wide range of solutions to complete this project in relation to the brief
sketching the uk creates over 33 million tonnes of waste per year
this gave me ideas into accessories in which which are never really seen as being upcycled, which is why i decided to go for the umbrella idea as i believed i could be most creative following this route
process i started by cutting out pieces of the bags to attach to the umbrella
hand stitching was then done to attach the bags to the umbrella
holes were drilled to make way for the strap
02 the brief Explore the commercial home-ware market and develop a single or range of projects specifically for sheet material manufacturing such as laser, water or plasma cutting.
This is the final white card model i came up with. This model shows the accurate size, form and connection to the bulb, with accurate representation using a ceiling light as an example.
Can be hung from the ceiling Snap fasteners provide easy assembly and disassembly
Made from Polypropylene, which makes it available in a range of colours.
Linear shape and pattern
the brief design an innovative new product for the ‘Blox’ product range to be sold in Wilko Stores across the UK.
- should be gender neutral - manufactured at a wilko price point - shouldn’t be a kit design, but should be compatible with other existing kits and other competing brands
designed around young families
i decided to look into how i could make the packaging more involved into the product itself, which is why i made the packaging not only storage but a fun, playful experience for the user as well. This also reduces the amount of waste caused by the product as the packaging is not thrown away.
background panel can be easily replaced
large playable, smooth surface for extra entertainmentnt
Large buildable area for more creativity
neatly folds into a rectangular storage box for easy storage solution
large basket-like handles for easy transport for both adults and childen
This is my updated portfolio version for year 2 of product design
