The role of Hsinchu prison and the japanese heritage represented the social isolation. The heritage developed from appendant of prison to independent cultural communities. The disintegration of the heritage became an invisible wall between the prison and the city. The focus of the project is to suggest a public accessible ‘Archive Building’ idea to reveal the uniqueness of these communities, so as to dissolve the invisible blockage and create a ‘new life’ of the place through architecture.

The HsinChu Prison is a ‘solid existense’ to both the near and far community within Hsinchu city. If it has to be related to local citizens so as to revitalise the remaining complex, this approach would aim to respect the tension that it created since it built in 1920s. Instead of letting the commercial activity from city center to buffer in, the project is about to put in parallel the ‘Prison of mind’ and ‘A physical prison’ to creat and confront the public of this part of the past history of HsinChu city. Judging and questioning humanity physically and psychologically.

Mundane - Scientific research about setting a rehabilitation program for patient, it is best to give a everday life experience to the patient so as to make a more accurate accessment throughout the rehabilitation process. ‘Mundane Realism’ is a term to emphasize the importance of putting a patient back to a more realistic context during therapy. Brain & Architecture - Relating the activity of brain neuro with the environment we are in. A more complex and adventurous environment will directly activate our brain movement. The Center is just alike other building masses of its surrounding, just that within the building mass, inward looking sky gardens and outward looking corridor formed moments of healing spaces within the rehab journey.

Chongqing MLP The project is a mixed use comlex above a newly built depot in Chongqing. A rather complex project I have com across. Participated in Concept Design Stage of MLP and DD stage of the residential facades. The project spend over 2 years long, the difficulty is about the size of the site and the site massing setting out. The MLP is planning on top of an existing depot and is lying in the mid hill featuring the typical Chongqing topography. Time mostly taken in trying out and shortlisting suitable zoning options for further development.

Proposed Youth Factory Building

/Rethinking the Urban Charicteristic/ Glasgow School of art extension Advisor - Jim Hutchson, Ross Lambie (RALA Ltd.)

Street and lane of Glasgow is special and is considered as a main sensual experience of the building design. Integrated perfectly with the topography of Glasgow, the streets and lanes becomes very lively and dynamic. When walking across the streets ones can even feel the rise and falll very obviously. The grid made the regular city grid of Glasgow comes alive. This very romantic glimpsing experience wandering around the city is captured in this project. The glimpse -the enchantment of space weaving to form lanes and street.

Permeability is allowed at the central corridor to echo the significant facade of Glasgow School of Art Building designed by Sir Mackintosh in the 60s. The masses are packed and tightened with a few assymetric splits(glimpse). which is called the ‘Disposition Strike’.

These strikes throughout the building light up the building throughout the day.
