Peter Hantack, Head Tennis Coach Peter Hantack begins his first season as LeTourneau University’s head men’s and women’s tennis coach. Hantack comes to LeTourneau from Northwest Missouri State University, where he spent the past two seasons as the top assistant coach. During his tenure there, the Bearcats won back-to-back Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association championships in 2010 and 2011. “I am excited to be a Yellowjacket and look forward to my new role as the head men’s and

women’s tennis coach,” Hantack says. “The school has so much to offer and I look forward to building a strong competitive team that will compete in the American Southwest Conference.” Hantack’s experience also includes three summer sessions as the head pro at the Konsberg Tennisklubb in Konsberg, Norway. Hantack played collegiate tennis at the University of Missouri at St. Louis, an NCAA Division II program. He still holds the school record for career singles victories with 64.

Suzanne Merritt was hired as LeTourneau’s assistant tennis coach in time for the 2011-12 season. Merritt’s assistant coaching duties will extend to both the men’s and women’s tennis teams. Merritt brings a wealth of talent and expertise to the position, having played for Baylor University. She lives in Longview with her husband, Ed.

Alan Wiederhold is in his second season as LeTourneau’s sports information director. Wiederhold came to LeTourneau from Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss. He also worked at Huston-Tillotson University in Austin. Wiederhold is the son of Dr. Alan D. Wiederhold and the late Wanna Wiederhold.

Josh Bailey Sophomore • 1L Kilgore, Texas Kilgore High School 2011: Went 7-12 in singles play during his freshman year, which included a 6-9 record in flight three singles ... Went 11-8 in doubles play, which included an 11-5 record in flight two with teammate Uli DelaFuente ... The Bailey-DelaFuente team went 7-3 in their final 10 matches of the season ... Went 10-8 in doubles competition, teaming with Ben Albers as LeTourneau’s No. 1 duo for the majority of the season ... Won eight out of nine singles matches between February 18 and March 12 ... Josh Bailey went 7-12 in singles play as a freshman during the 2011 season and teamed up with Uli DelaFuente for 11 wins in doubles play during the season.

Sarah Case went 11-8 in singles play while teaming with Brooke Kincade in doubles play to go 10-7 to lead the YellowJackets team in 2011. Case was named the ASC East Division’s Newcomer of the Year.

Brooke Kincade went 13-5 in singles play for the YellowJackets last season and compiled a 10-7 doubles record with Sarah Case. Kincade was named the ASC’s Women’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year as a senior in 2011.

Carlos Cantu went 12-6 to lead the LeTourneau men’s tennis team in 2011. We earned ASC Honorable Mention last season after being named the ASC East Division’s Newcomer of the Year in 2010.
