ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY, INC. NATIONAL FOUNDING DATE: January 15, 1908. LOCAL FOUNDING DATE: Eta Tau chapter founded June 14, 1973. CHAPTER INFORMATION: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is a diverse organization, with chapters all over the globe. Japan, South Africa, Germany, and Korea are home to a few of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s International chapters. The members of Alpha Kappa Alpha are also very diverse in age, ranging from 18 and older. The Eta Tau chapter is comprised of college-aged women attending either Iowa State University or Drake University. PURPOSE STATEMENT: The purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of service to all mankind. NATIONAL PROGRAMS: Emerging Youth Leaders, Global Poverty Initiation, Health Initiatives including Asthma Prevention and Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability. Local programs include Fight Like A Girl for October Breast Cancer Awareness, and Red Barrel Food Pantry. MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS: 2.5 GPA or C+ average, both cumulative and semester.

KAPPA ALPHA PSI FRATERNITY, INC. NATIONAL FOUNDING DATE: January 5, 1911. LOCAL FOUNDING DATE: Omega chapter founded November 28, 1925. CHAPTER INFORMATION: K. appa Alpha Phi Fraternity, Inc. is an NPHC fraternity with 721 chapters worldwide with chapters in Japan, Germany, South Africa and many other foreign nations. MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of Kappa Alpha Phi Fraternity, Inc. is to help men grow and develop into better men. We also want to help men become achievers in every field of human endeavor.

NATIONAL PROGRAMS: Heartland Humane Society, Kappa League, and Guide Right. MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS: 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA.

OMEGA PSI PHI FRATERNITY, INC. NATIONAL FOUNDING DATE: November 19, 1911. LOCAL FOUNDING DATE: Mu Theta chapter founded February 1, 1970. MISSION STATEMENT: Motto is ”Friendship is Essential to the Soul.” The mission statement of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is to bring about union of college men of similar high ideals of scholarship and manhood in order to stimulate the attainment of ideas and ambitions of its members; occupy a progressive, helpful and constructive place in political life of the community and nation; and foster the humanity, freedom, and dignity of the individual; and aid downtrodden humanity in its efforts to achieve higher economic and intellectual status. Cardinal principles are manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift. NATIONAL PROGRAMS: Voter registration, Habitat for Humanity, Charles Drew Blood Drive, NAACP. MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS: Completed 36 credit hours at ISU with a GPA minimum of 2.5.

DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, INC. NATIONAL FOUNDING DATE: January 13, 1913. LOCAL FOUNDING DATE: Phi chapter founded December 29, 1923. CHAPTER INFORMATION: The organization is a sisterhood of predominantly Black, college educated women. The sorority currently has 1,000 collegiate and alumnae chapters located in the United States, England, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Jamaica and the Republic of Korea. MISSION STATEMENT: D . elta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. Since its founding more than 200,000 women have joined the organization. NATIONAL PROGRAMS: Financial Fortitude, Delta GEMS, EMBODI, and Healthy Lifestyle. MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS: 2.75 minimum cumulative GPA.
