Restormel Mind and Restormel Befriending Scheme

1

Message from our Chief Executive Maureen Newman........ Last year was a really exciting year for us and 2011 looks likely to be even better. The Restormel Befriending Scheme is going from strength to strength and we have now opened up our new Wellbeing Centre in Bodmin. We still need more volunteers, so if you would like to join us we would love to hear from you. It is important to remember that 1 in 4 people are likely to experience mental health issues in their lifetime - the number may be even higher, so we aim to provide support and friendship during difficult times.

'Fitness to Wellbeing'

Quillows for Little Harbour Childrens' Hospice Well done to the Patchwork Group who have made a dozen Quillows for the new childrens' hospice, Little Harbour !

The Patchwork Group has been working flat out to make really beautiful Quillows for the new childrens' hospice, Little Harbour. These are patchwork blankets and cushions which are given to the children to keep, almost like a comfort blanket. The Patchwork group has

received an official invite from the Little Harbour hospice to go and visit and take the 12 Quillows that they have made. The group is also going to Exeter to the Spring Quilt show which they do every year and all enjoy a jolly trip !

The 'Fitness to Wellbeing' sessions at the Dragon Leisure Centre in Bodmin are being continued due to popular demand ! The badminton is still attracting strong support and special thanks go to all the staff at the gym who do such a great induction and our badminton coach Jackie for making it such fun. The catering staff put on an excellent buffet every week, which does include fruit salad so we don't completely undo all our good work......

'Knit and Knatter' This is our latest group to start at the Wellbeing Centre in Bodmin. The sessions run on a Wednesday afternoon and you can just choose to have a coffee and a chat but if you fancy learning to knit as well, or you are an experienced knitter, then come along and enjoy a lively couple of hours.

Time to Change Stigma and discrimination ruin lives. They deny people with mental health problems the opportunity to live their lives to the full. They deny people relationships, work, education, hope and the chance to live an ordinary life that others take for granted. We want to change all that !

(Friday mornings)

St Column Minor Coffee Corner (Thursday mornings)

Artastic Fantastic !

The Artastic group meets in Newquay on Wednesday afternoons and it is a wonderful place to learn a new skill and meet new friends. You can see some of their work on our website and it is fantastic !

Call us on 01208 892855

Unfortunately it is so popular that there is a waiting list so we are thinking about how we can create some more Artastic groups probably in the Bodmin area. Watch this space for more news !
